Montgomery County Michigan

February 8, 2019

Dear Judge Bolser:

I am writing this letter on behalf of my Father-In-Law, Donald J. Miller. Mr. Miller was issued a
Citation and is required to appear in Court on February 15, 2019. The citation number appears to
be 685203.

Mr. Miller is 80 years of age, lives in Hillsdale County Michigan and is currently traveling over
120 miles each day to a step-down facility to care for and spend time with his Wife, Sunday
Miller, who has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.

Mrs. Miller will be submitting to a PET scan today to determine if and how much the cancer may
have spread. If all goes well, Mrs. Miller will be transferred home with the assistance from
home health care and hospice. However, up to this point, Mrs. Miller has been too week to
transport home.

Mr. Miller would like to maximize the time that he has left with Mrs. Miller. At this time, things
are not stable and he is concerned about leaving her and missing the opportunity to be with her in
her time of need and her last moment.

Mr. Miller would like to continue his case and is hopeful that you will grant him this wish under
the circumstance. At this time, Mr. Miller does not know how much time he will need, but seeks
a continuance and would request this case to be set for a date in the future as far out as possible.

Please note, while I am an attorney, I am not writing this letter as Mr. Miller’s attorney as I do
not represent him. I am writing this letter on his behalf as a concerned daughter-in-law.

Additionally, Mr. Miller is limited in his ability to quickly communicate given the circumstances
and the fact that he does not have an email or fax.

Mr. Miller has authorized and has approved me sending this request on his behalf and receiving
any response to this letter on his behalf.

I appreciate your consideration in this matter.

Sincerely,

Cheryl A. Miller
