历史时期
Describe a period in history that you would like to learn more about.
You should say:
When this period in history was
How you first became interested in this period in history
What you already know about this period in history
And explain why you would like to learn more about this period.
To tell you the truth, I wasn't always a big fan of history, partly because most of my teachers in that
subject only stated facts and people that I was not familiar with. But if my memory serves me right,
it was spring when this historical period was introduced in class. Just like any other history classes
in the past, I found it again, rather boring initially, but as soon as we reached the climax(最精彩
处), which is the part where Hitler's reign of terror(恐怖统治时期) started in the early 1900s, my
curiosity grew even stronger.
I've always been a compassionate(有同情心的;表示同情的) person, so having heard from my
teacher how this infamous(声名狼藉的;臭名昭著的) dictator(独裁者) murdered, not just a thousand
people, but millions really disturbed me. Out of curiosity, I searched for a variety of movies about
this period which mostly talk about survival during those days. What I’m most interested in is the

this period which mostly talk about survival during those days. What I’m most interested in is the
psychology of Hitler and how he ended up murdering millions of people. Could it be from his
personal interest or for his people? This question has left me hanging since I had that history class
with my teacher. Although he has kicked the bucket(逝世), there are still many questions
unanswered(未予回答的;未得到回复的) in my mind and his reign of terror will forever remain in
the hearts of the victims as well as the modern people that there was once a dictator who
committed genocide(种族灭绝;大屠杀) and mass murder that is called the Holocaust.
别人做的好决定
Describe someone you know who made a good decision recently
You should say:
Who he/she is
When he/she made the decision
What decision he/she made
Why it was a good decision
And explain how you felt about the decision
Okay, so I'm going to talk about my friend, Xiao zang, who made a really smart decision a few
weeks back.Xiao zahng is a fellow student at my university, and we've been friends for about two
years now.
So, the decision he made was to take a part-time job( 工作) while continuing his studies. This
happened just after the winter break. You see, we were discussing our future plans and how we
could gain some practical experience( ) while still in school. That's when Li Ming decided
to apply for a part-time job at a local tech company that aligns with his major in computer science
.
The reason this was such a good decision is because it's giving him real-world experience in his
field of study, which is incredibly valuable. It's one thing to learn theories in class, but it's a whole
other level to apply them to actual work. Plus, he's building a professional network( ) and
earning some money on the side, which, let's be honest, as students, we can always use more of.
I felt really impressed by his decision. It's not easy to juggle work and studies, but he's managing it
well. His time management(时 ) skills have improved, and I can see he's more confident
about his abilities. It's inspired me to consider looking for a similar opportunity. I think it's a great
way to prepare for life after graduation.
Overall, Li Ming's choice was practical and forward-thinking(前 性思 ). It's something that I
believe many of us college students in China should consider, especially given the competitive job
market we'll be facing.
I think it was a good decision because, since he's made that change, I've noticed a significant(显著

I think it was a good decision because, since he's made that change, I've noticed a significant(显著
的) improvement in his overall well-being(幸福感). He's more relaxed, his grades have gone up, and
he's even started working on a personal project that could potentially be a breakthrough(突破) in
his field. Besides, he's been able to spend more quality time with friends and family.
When he told me about his decision, I felt really proud of him. It takes courage(勇气) to let go of
something secure for the greater good of your future. I was also relieved because I saw how the
stress was affecting him, and I knew that this change would bring a positive impact(影响) on his life.
So yeah, Zhang Wei's decision to quit his job and focus on his studies was definitely a smart move,
and it's inspiring to see someone make such a strategic(战略的) choice for their personal and
professional growth.
宜居之城
Describe a place (city/town) that is good for people to live in
You should say:
Where it is
How you knew this place
What it is like
And explain why it is better than other places to live in
Alright, so I'd like to talk about a place that I believe is fantastic for people to live in, and that's the
city of Xiamen, located in the southeastern province of Fujian, China. I first came to know about
Xiamen through friends at university who are originally from there. They always describe it with
such passion that it piqued my curiosity.
Xiamen is a coastal(沿海的) city with a moderate(温和的) climate, which is neither too hot in
summer nor too cold in winter. It's known for its clean streets, lush parks, and beautiful beaches.
The city has a laid-back(闲散的) vibe compared to the hustle and bustle(忙碌) of mega-cities like
Beijing or Shanghai. It's also home to several top universities, which attract students from all over
China and contribute to the city's vibrant(充满活力的), youthful atmosphere.
The reason I believe Xiamen is superior to other places to live in China is multifaceted(多方面的).

The reason I believe Xiamen is superior to other places to live in China is multifaceted(多方面的).
Firstly, it's the quality of life. The city has a great balance between urban development and natural
beauty. You've got the convenience of city living with shopping malls and restaurants, but you're
never too far away from a beach or a hiking trail in the nearby mountains.
Secondly, the city's infrastructure(基础设施) is well-developed, with an efficient public
transportation system, making it easy to get around. Additionally, Xiamen has a reputation for
being one of the cleanest cities in China, which is a significant consideration for health and
wellbeing.
Lastly, Xiamen is rich in culture, with the unique Hokkien heritage and colonial history, as seen in
the architecture of Gulangyu Island, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site(联合国教科文组织世界
遗产地). This cultural blend(混合) offers residents a chance to experience a diverse mix of traditions
and lifestyles.
In conclusion, Xiamen's combination of pleasant climate, recreational opportunities, cultural
diversity, and high standard of living make it an ideal place for people looking for a balanced and
fulfilling(令人满足的) life.
想买的车
Describe a kind of car you would like to buy in the future
You should say:
What it is like
Where you can buy it
How you can buy it
小问待补充
Alright, so the type of car I'd love to own in the future would definitely be an electric car,
specifically a Tesla Model 3. I'm really drawn to its sleek(光滑的,时髦的) design, cutting-edge(最前沿
的) technology, and, most importantly, its eco-friendly(环保的). It's a compact sedan, but it's got
plenty of room inside, and the interior is super minimalist(极简的), which I find very appealing.

plenty of room inside, and the interior is super minimalist(极简的), which I find very appealing.
Plus, it's got this massive touchscreen(触摸屏) that controls almost everything in the car, which is
incredibly cool.
Now, as for where I could buy it, Tesla has showrooms in major cities across China, including
Beijing and Shanghai. But they also have a very user-friendly(用户友好的) online ordering system.
So, I could either visit a showroom to get a feel for the car and speak to a sales representative, or I
could customize and order one directly from their website, which is quite convenient.
When it comes to purchasing the car, there are a few options. I could pay for it outright, which
would be ideal, but that's quite a lot of money to put down all at once. The other option is to get a
loan or opt for a financing plan, which is more manageable on a monthly basis. Tesla offers
various financing(融资) options, so I'd need to sit down and figure out which plan would be the
most feasible(可行的) for me financially.
Of course, as a college student in China, I'm aware that it's a bit of a stretch to buy a Tesla right
now. But, I'm working hard on my studies, and I'm hopeful that I'll have a well-paying job in the
future. That way, I can save up and eventually make this dream a reality. It's not just about having
a nice car, but also about making an environmentally responsible(环境负责任的) choice.
和别人一起做的事
Describe something that you did with someone/a group of people
You should say
What it was
Who you did it with
How long it took you to do this
And explain why you did it together
Let me tell you about a time I worked on a group project with some classmates at university. We
were tasked with(被给予...任务) creating a presentation on Chinese economic development, which
is quite a broad and complex topic. I collaborated with three other students from my course, and
we all brought different strengths to the table, which was fantastic.
ielts.itongzhuo.com Page 5
We met up initially to brainstorm(头脑风暴) and divide the workload(工作量). I was responsible for
researching the historical aspects, another student focused on recent trends, and the others looked
into future predictions and prepared the visual aids(直观教具). We aimed to integrate various
perspectives and really delve into the subject matter.
The whole process took us about two weeks. This included several meetings for discussion and
practice, and countless hours spent researching and refining our presentation. It was a bit intense,
juggling(尽力同时应付) this with our other coursework, but we managed to pull it off.
As for how I felt about it, well, it was quite a rewarding experience. Working in a group allowed us
to support each other and learn from one another. There were moments of stress, sure, especially
when deadlines loomed(逼近), but there was also a strong sense of camaraderie(同志之情). Seeing
our collective effort come together in the end was incredibly satisfying. Plus, the feedback from
our professor and peers was overwhelmingly(压倒性地) positive, which was the cherry on top(锦上添
花).
I definitely think that collaborating with others can bring out the best in you, and it teaches you a
lot about teamwork and communication. So, yeah, that's something I did with a group of people,
and it turned out to be a very enriching(有益的) experience.
