Subcontractor Selection Criteria Analysis

Recent research has focused on identifying and prioritizing criteria affecting subcontractor selection from the owner's perspective, primarily emphasizing subjective factors like performance and financial strength. Despite a slight increase in the importance of non-price criteria over the last decade, price still dominates the evaluation process, accounting for 70% of the weight in selection decisions. Current models have yet to effectively integrate both tender price and subjective criteria into a unified evaluation framework.

Several researchers in the last decades involved in studying, identifying, ranking and prioritizing

the most significant criteria that may affect the subcontractor selection and its impact on the
project scheduling from owner perspective.
Most of the researchers in the last decades involved in investigating the main criteria which may
affect the subcontractor selection concentrated only on the subjective ones [6]. Subjective criteria
usually include the performance, financial strength and on time execution of previous projects.
However, none of these models combined both the tender price and the subjective criteria
together in one evaluation model.
The credence is increasing slightly on non-price criteria, especially in the last 10 years. However,
there was a significant pattern of the price which represents 70 percent of the evaluation weight
while the non-price criteria represent the other 30 percent, it showed that most of the
subcontractor selections depend on price only and times were changing slightly [2].
