Starter Activity: (3 minutes)
Flipped Learning
Activate students’ prior knowledge about everyday materials by having them watch a short video at home. Discuss the
key points from the video.
HOT: Why do you think our classroom chairs are made of plastic or wood instead of glass or metal?
Guided Practice: (15 minutes)
-Explore Walk
Take the students for an "Explore Walk" around the school (playground, garden, classroom areas) to observe various
materials. Encourage them to notice and point out things made of materials like wood, metal, plastic, glass, fabric, etc.
Identify and observe different materials in the school surroundings.
HOT: Which materials do you see most often around the playground?
Independent Practice (15 minutes)
- Experiential Learning
After returning to the classroom, ask students to make a list in their tear-off pads of the materials they observed during
the walk. Reflect on the materials explored during the walk and categorize them.
Bonus Task: Draw 2 objects and enlist the materials used to make them.
Wrap-up (2 minutes)
- Exit Ticket
Summarize and assess students' learning. Ask students to write or draw one object they saw during the walk and label
its material.

Students pair up and share their thoughts about material they saw during the explore walk. Why was that material used
