Planning a Career
Planning a career is a big decision. To help you choose the best route for you it’s
vital to research what particular jobs involve – and find out the skills, experience and
qualifications you may need.
The world of work is changing. Increasingly, employers are looking for people with
higher level of skills and qualifications. To give yourself the best chance of finding and
staying in work, you need to carry on learning and developing your skills throughout your
working life. It’s also worth remembering that a “job for life” is becoming a thing of the past.
People with higher skills and qualifications will find it easier to move from job to job.
Research also shows that people with qualifications usually earn more money than those
people who don’t have them.
There are specific times when you’ll face some important decisions about your future.
The choices you make can have a big impact on the career you decide to follow.

as much information as possible about all your possible choices, and about the skills and
