. O.scrib, Aniruddh•'s journey from Kolk•I• towvds Dumki.
s. Aniruddha's journey from Kolkata towards Dumka in his car is described in the short
story "Indigo Terror• by Satyajit Ray. Aniruddha is a young man who is driving to
Dumka to visit his friend. From lhl' very beginning, there were a (ew hitches in
Aniruddha's plan to leave early, with his neighbours stoppin g him to talk and ask
qutstions. Ho finally managed to set off, describing his journey through the cities.
Despite avoiding Howrah and taking Bali Bridge Road, it took him an hour and a half
just to reach Chanda.nnagore. But when the car the car emerged on the open ro.id in
the country side he was fascina ted by the clear blue sky. One of his t)•res got
unctured, and he got out of the car to fix it. However, a few mil<.>S later just as the
military camps of Panagar were coming into view, he heard a loud noise, like the
popping of a balloon. from the rear of the car, and the vehicle pitched sideways. The
cause was obvious. He had a punctured tyre. He then encountered a hea\')'
thunderstorm and another flat tyre. With the rain pouring, no spa.re trres and the night
falling, he was left in a predicament.

3. Discuss 'Indigo' as a story about supernatural.
Ans. Satyajil Ray's 'Indigo' or Neel Alankh is a classic example of a supernatural story. It is
a story that deals with the unexplained and the unknown, and it lea\'es the reader
with a sense ol unease and wonder.
The story is about a young man, Aniruddha, who is forced to spend the night in an olJ
bungalow in rural Bengal. During the night, he is transfonned into the British manaser
