UTHULI WASTE COLLECTION

INTRODUCTION
We have identified that waste is one of the biggest issue in South African townships as for
KwaMashu, Inanda, UMlazi and Alex. People who lives in these townships tends to open
illegal dumping because there are no trucks to collect their waste, which results to
land pollution. There are factors that contributes to waste in these townships like
Urbanization, lack of education, and people do not care.

FACTORS THAT CONTRIBUTES TO LAND POLLUTION

1. URBANIZATION
Urbanization contributes to land pollution and the development of illegal dumping because
the more people, over from rural areas to urban areas, the informal settlements take place
and there is no provision of good services like the collection of waste. We have also
acknowledged that urbanization leads to waste disposal as the mass of population moves
from rural areas to townships which indirectly leads to illegal dumping.

2. LACK OF EDUCATION
People do not have enough knowledge on how to manage waste, they just throw it
anywhere without knowing that they are affecting the environment and their own health.

3. PEOPLE DO NOT CARE

Littering is a human made environmental destructive behavior that is done in all places
especially in townships. Communities just throw out garbage anywhere not in the provided
for them to use. They just do not care. This make the environment dirty and unhealthy and
it shows that people do not care about the environment or the places they live in. They
don`t want to take any further step like tidying the environment, they just do not care.

As we have acknowledged all of these factors that contributes to land pollution and illegal
dumping, we decided to establish the company of trucks that will collect the waste it is
called UTHULI WASTE COLLECTION that will be collecting waste in places like KwaMashu,
Inanda, UMlazi and Alex. As we have mentioned that these places have a huge statistics of
illegal dumping which leads to land pollution. Our business will also collect in private sector
like hospitals, clubs, restaurants and factories. We will not only collect waste but we will
also be providing these places materials such as Bins, Plastics, Containers and other cleaning
materials to keep the environment clean.
Our company will be providing services to these townships which means our company will
be earning from government as we will be operating in the public sector. We will again earn
from the private sectors that we are operating. We will reach the maximum profit directly
from companies. We will also get profit from recycling sector and we will be not dumping
the waste but rather recycle it and sell it as a final product as for plastic bottles, cupboards,
tins and so on.

Our company wii provide more employment opportunities as we eill be dealing with
recycling. We will employ people who will be separating waste like plastic bottles, cans,
paper, boxes from those unusual. And sell the recycled waste as we have mentioned.

We also came up with an idea of educating people who lack knowledge about waste. So we
will also engage in different activities to accommodate everyone. We will teach them on
how to manage waste and how to keep environment clean. There will be competitions
whereby we will be visiting these townships mentioned respectively to keep our issue
interesting.
We do these programs because people don`t care about the environment. Littering
makes the huge environment destructive behavior. Communities just throw waste
anywhere not in the provided garbage. This makes the environment unhealthy. This
is our main aim for this program to keep the environment clean and transport the
waste and recycle it to sell it to companies so that the economy can increase in an
indirect proportion
When it comes to recycling we offer leanerships to those who are interested. Our
course is due 6 months; the aim is to educate them about solving waste problems.
They will be provided free diving licenses once the course is finished. We will them
the timeframe to work with us.

CONCLUSION
When you are dealing with waste management company faces with number of
challenges, but our company is going to be able to balance the objectives in
promoting recycling and protecting the environment.
