Goals: noun phrase, pronoun, components of a sentence

I. Noun phrase
1. Premodifiers
Determiner + Noun
Determiner:
Article: a, an, the
Demonstrative: this, that, these, those
Possessive: my, your, our, their, his, her, its Premodifiers
Quantifier: many, some, several, few

Example:
Those houses are very expensive
There are many houses near gas station
My brother owns two houses.
I love the old house we used to live in.

Complete the exercise in your book.


2. Postmodifiers
Prepositional The house on the corner

Noun Ving The man standing over there

Relative clause The man we met yesterday

To V I have no shoes to wear


Examples: Classify
1. You should take something to read.

Mistake: David is repeated

Use pronoun to replace David – avoid repetition

Solution: David is a subject so we can use he to replace David

 David likes flowers. He has a garden. He loves taking care of kis garden.

Practice:

David likes flowers. David grows a lot of flowers in his garden.


Mistake: David and flower are repeated. David is a subject and flowers is an object.

Solution: Use he  David, them  flowers

Complete activity 7 in your book.


Sentences

Maria sings

Maria sings a song.

Maria sings well.

Maria and her sister sing

Maria and her sister sing at home

Maria and her sister sing with other family members

Maria standing at the corner sings alone.
