This operation also includes required tools and times for applicable parts of the following operations:

¡ Service positions
¡ Parking brake, manually releasing
¡ Parking brake, adjusting

There are two alternatives for applying and releasing the parking brake, this operation describes both. Manual application and
release is performed when there is no compressed air.
Change the brake pads if the wear surface on the brake pads is smaller than min. permitted thickness, see Parking brake,
specifications.

Removing

1. Place the machine in service position, see Service positions


NOTE!
Block the wheels or prevent the machine from rolling in another way.

2. Start the machine.

3. Elevate the load body and secure it with 88830046 Dump body support.

4. Make sure that the machine's compressed air system has full working pressure.

5. Release the parking brake with the button on the control panel.
Turn off the engine with the emergency stop but keep the ignition in position I, operating position.
Secure the parking brake with the caging bolt, see Parking brake, manually releasing.
As an alternative, release the parking brake manually, see Parking brake, manually releasing.

6. Remove the protective plate over the parking brake.

7. Cut the cable ties and remove the plastic casing over the link arm on the parking brake.

8. Loosen the pin for the brake pads' lock device.


Move aside the lock device.

9. Remove the brake pads and spacer blocks.


Check that the brake caliper can slide smoothly in its bracket.

10. Remove any dirt and dust from the brake pads' contact surface on the brake caliper.

11. Check and change worn and damaged parts.

12. Check thickness of the parking brake disc.


For min. permitted thickness, see Parking brake, specifications

13. Check both sides of the parking brake disc for deep scoring, roughness, or other damages.

14. Replace the disc if there is damage or if it is not thick enough, see Parking brake, changing brake disc.

Installing

15. Transfer the springs to the new brake pads.

16. Remove the plug and sealing washer that hide the adjusting screw.

17. Screw the adjustment clockwise until a clicking sound is heard and the brake pads can be installed. Use an Allen key.

18. Install the brake pads and spacer blocks.

19. Move the lock device for the brake pads back into place and lock with the lock pin.

20. Adjust the brake pads in relation to the brake disc, see Parking brake, adjusting.

21. Install the plastic protection with two cable ties.

22. Remove the caging bolt from the spring brake cylinder and reinstall it in its holder. Reinstall the plastic plug.

23. Start the machine. Release and apply the parking brake 10–15 times from the cab so that the automatic adjustment
reaches final position.

24. Fit the protective plate.

25. Remove 88830046 Dump body support and lower the body.

26. Restore the machine from service position.

27. Start the machine and check functions, see Parking brake function, checking.
