ABSTRACT
Title : SPLASH LEARN: AN INTERVENTION UTILIZING
GAMIFICATION IN ENHANCING BASIC ARITHMETIC
ADDITION OF INTEGERS OF GRADE VII STUDENTS IN
PAMBUJAN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

MATHEMATICS
Subject : TEACHING INTERNSHIP

Year : 2023- 2024
Mathematics involves the exploration of concepts related
to numbers, shapes, quantity, and space. It may be regarded
as one of the most challenging subjects taught in schools.
As such, the aim of this study was to investigate the
effectiveness of splash learning as an intervention
utilizing gamification in enhancing basic arithmetic
addition of integers. The researcher considered having a
classroom observation and utilized questionnaires to collect
data from students and used convenience sampling to obtain
the potential students’ participants. In this study, games
were utilized to assess the participants’ preexisting
knowledge of basic arithmetic in addition of integers
through a pre-test, and to measure any progress made after
playing the game as a tool for enhancement, through a post-
test. The study found that the post-test results revealed a
significant improvement in the participants’ basic math
addition performance indicating that splash learning
utilizing gamification is effective in enhancing students’
performance. However, some participants had challenges with
certain math operations such as regrouping the numbers.
Based on the findings of this study, the researcher
recommend that students must first be introduced on some
basic terms in arithmetic addition of integers, let students
watch teacher-device videos related to math addition of
integers, and teach students about regrouping numbers in
solving math addition problems.

DEDICATION
The researchers would like to dedicate this paper to
the teachers and learners of Pambujan National High School
particularly the grade-seven students of the school year
2023-2024. May this study serve as a springboard for
developing new teaching strategies that can enhance the
performance of pupils not only in learning the basic
arithmetic addition of integers but also in other
mathematical concepts.
