I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards

The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-American literature


serves as a means of valuing other people through various types of print media and
linear /nonlinear texts; strategies I processing information connections in listening
and viewing materials; communicative styles; and adverbs and conditionals in
narration and argumentation

B. Performance Standards

The learner transfers learning by composing short prose forms with


appropriate and creative use of adverbs and conditionals and delivering the same
through Readers’ Theater or Chamber Theater format with effective use of verbal
and non-verbal strategies.
C .Learning Competencies:
1. Identify what type of connection is depicted in each situation ( ENRC-lll-17)
2. Make connections through text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world.
3. Appreciate the importance of connection in reading.

A. Review
Submission of assignment.
B. Motivation
1. What are the words that associate connection?
2. (Using QAR Learning Approach)
Make questions using the words: connect, connection, or connecting.

C. Activity
Game: Miss Connection Pageant
Three candidates are selected to wear different crowns ( text-to-text,
text-to-self, and text-to-world crowns). The students will pick the sash with
question written on it, read it, and pin the sash to the right candidate.

Questions on the sash:


1. How is this text similar to things happening in real world?
2. How is this text similar to other things I have read?
3. How this relate to my life?
4. What were my feelings when I read this?
5. How is this similar to my life?
6. How does this part relate to the world around me?
7. How is this different from other books I have read?
8. Have I read something like this before?
9. How does this remind me of in the real world?

D. Analysis (Using HOTS question based on SOLO framework)


Bring the students into the discussion about-
1. What is connection?
2. How does connection help you in reading?
3. What are the three types in making connection?
4. Giving of examples
5. Now, create your example of connections based on any article, stories, news,
novels, books that you have read.

E. Abstraction
What are the three types of making connection?
How do you connect your reading text to different subject areas?

F. Application
How does connection help you in reading?

IV. Assessment:
Students are group into three according to Filipino writers’ names. Each group
has sticks with the three types of connections (Text-to-Self, Text –to Text, and Text-
to-World) .The group will identify what stick to raise after the reading of the text by
the teacher. The score will be based by the number of correct answer by group.

1. I read a nonfiction book about how to get better at tennis. It reminded me of last
summer when I attended a tennis camp to improve my skills.
2. I read an article about how bananas are grown in the tropics. It reminded me of how
oranges are usually grown in Florida.
3 I read a book about the best sports for kids. It reminded me that I had a baseball
practice that afternoon.
4 I read a story about how people talk without speaking, and it reminded me of a
school where sign language is taught.
5. I read a chapter book about a girl who worked in a factory in New York. It
reminded me of an article I read in school about child labor laws,
