Topic : Enhancing Protection of Children from Violence, Exploitation, Abuse, and
Neglect
Signatories : Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Guinea, Myanmar, French, Iraq
Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Guinea, Myanmar, French, and Iraq agree that enhancing protection of
children from violence, exploitation, abuse, and neglect is a must. To that end we propose:
1. Enhancing protection of children through technology with a balancing act between
protection and privacy.
a. Cooperation UNICEF with technological business to develop kid-friendly features
as well as efforts to direct digital surveillance towards the safeguarding of
children's rights.
b. Develop educational programs to encourage digital literacy and appropriate online
conduct in children, parents, and educators to raise the awareness campaigns
ensuring all stakeholders understand, exercise, and respect children's rights
through UNICEF Technical assistance support.
c. Legal and Social Reform with actively advocates for the modification and
enactment of laws to accommodate the digital facet of child rights protection.
d. Endorse the establishment and advocacy of the hotline focused on providing a
secure and accessible platform for reporting, intervention, and support to
guarantee the safety and well-being of children.
2. Strengthening child protection through the concrete initiatives and collaborations of
UNICEF and other UN bodies, as well as other organizations.
a. UNICEF with UNHCR (United Nation Human Right council) to support reform
and outlines policies that relate to the rights of children and provides a
comprehensive framework for nations worldwide to safeguard children's rights.
b. UNICEF with UN Women to address gender based discrimination, promote
equality addressing early marriage, support physiological trauma and unwanted
pregnancy. Through technical assistance, advocacy for nations worldwide.
c. UNICEF with INTERPOL to reform and strengthen policy in order to improve
cybersecurity measures to safeguard minors from cyberbullying, identity theft,
and online predators for children safeguard.
d. UNICEF with the UNSC (United Nations Security Council) to protect the rights
of children and provide support to children in armed conflict zones.
e. UNICEF with ILO (International Labour Organization) to collaborate on research
and data collection efforts to better understand the prevalence and root causes of
child labor, exploitation, and abuse. This data helps inform evidence-based
policies and programs aimed at addressing child protection issues. Commitment
together through advocacy, technical assistance and capacity building to
eradicated child labour.
f. UNICEF and WHO (World Health Organization) to improve child health and
well-being by providing support for immunization programs, disease prevention,
and healthcare system strengthening.
g. Unicef and World Food Programme (WFP) to address child malnutrition and food
insecurity by providing food assistance, nutritional support, and promoting
sustainable food security initiatives.
h. Multi-agency and inter-disciplinary collaboration is important for child protection.
A multi-Agency safeguarding Hub(MASH) can provide faster, more coordinated
response by improving information sharing between partners. Also helps identify
safeguarding concerns earlier and improve recognition of risk and threat.
i. Bringing together stakeholders not only from States but also international
organizations such as UNICEF partners with Save the Children to promote
children's rights, provide emergency relief, and support education and child
protection programs in various countries. As well as with Agence Francaise de
Development (AFD) to setting up of support system for maternal and child
healthcare in the areas where it is most urgently needed.
3. Enhancing the Protection of Children amidst Violence, Exploitation, Abuse and
Neglect through Community Engagement.
a. UNICEF is able to become a bridge between communities and governments that
can lobby for more tangible initiatives like subsidizing educational costs,
facilitating quality healthcare, and providing basic amenities. These measures can
significantly decrease a child's vulnerability to violence and neglect.
b. Community engagement with UNICEF can help raise awareness about the rights
of children and the various forms of violence, exploitation, abuse, and neglect
they may face. Through community outreach programs, discussions, and
advocacy efforts.
c. Through community engagement, UNICEF can provide training and capacity
building for community members, including parents, teachers, health workers,
and local leaders. This can help to empower individuals and communities to
identify, prevent, and respond to child protection issues effectively.
4. Comprehensive Child Safety through Education.
a. Implementation of educational programs, within school curriculum that aim to
empower children with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves from
various forms of harm.
b. The education encompasses areas that focus on personal safety, online safety,
physical and emotional well-being, and understanding and reporting abuse.
c. Providing training and capacity building on education towards teachers, social
workers, and law enforcement personnel on how to recognize and respond to
signs of abuse can help in early identification and intervention.
5. Establishment Safe Platform, Confidential and child friendly reporting systems.
a. Collaboration with government and non government organizations to strengthen
the child protection system and ensure that safe reporting mechanisms are in place
and accessible to all children. Accessibility and child friendliness can help
children more comfortably and to report incidence of abuse or exploitation.
b. Capacity building to develop child-friendly reporting systems and ensure that
professionals are equipped to respond to reports of abuse and exploitation
effectively.
c. Setting up council to protect children from sexual exploitation and abuse along
with concrete action after report received.
d. Adoption of Security council resolution which was set up for monitoring and
reporting mechanisms.
6. Implementing social support programs that address the root causes of violence and neglect
a. Enhancing access to mental health services involves increasing the number of
qualified professional, improving affordability, and integrating mental health into
primary care are crucial components to create a holistic approach. Telehealth options
can broaden accessibility, especially in underserved areas.
b. Fostering a positive environment that reduces the likehood of violence and neglect
with promoting community cohesion through events, recreational spaces, and cultural
activities.
c. Integrating mental health education into schools and workplaces to raise awareness
while collaborating with local organizations to ensure a comphrehensive support
network.
d. Investing in education and skill-building initiatives that can empower individuals with
allocating resources to quality education, vocational training, and lifelong learning
peograms empowers individuals to acquire skills for economic independence to adress
the root causes of violence and neglect.
