NAME OF THE DESCRIPTION
INSTRUMENT
1. Bandurria -The bandurria is a plucked
chordophone from Spain, similar to
the mandolin and bandola, primarily
used in Spanish folk music, but also
found in former Spanish colonies.
- Bandurria is a flat body musical
instrument, pear-shaped, with a
Neck and a Headplate with twelve
strings (six pairs): of these six are
made of gut and six are gimped,
although modern Bandurria usually
has the first two metallic pairs and
gimped the last four pairs. Gimped
strings may have the soul of steel or
nylon.
2. Laud -Laud is a plectrum-plucked
chordophone from Spain, played
also in diaspora countries such
as Cuba and the Philippines. The
laud belongs to the cittern family
of instruments.
-It belongs to the cittern family
of instruments. It has six double
courses (i.e. twelve strings in
pairs), similarly to the bandurria,
but its neck is longer. the strings
in each course are tuned in
unison.
3.Octavina -Formed like a guitar with in most
cases, a figure eight-shaped body
and a round sound hole, the Octavina
has a shorter neck, often with only
16 frets, though some octavinas may
have 18 to 20 frets, like its close
relative, the laúd.
- The 𝙊𝙘𝙩𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙖 is slightly
larger than the bandurria and
shaped like a guitar. It is also
plucked using a plectrum. The
octavina has a mellow and
deeper tone compared to the
bandurria, and it complements
the sound of other traditional
instruments in Filipino music.
4. Double Bass Double bass, stringed musical
instrument, the lowest-pitched
member of the orchestra, sounding
an octave lower than the cello. It
has two basic designs—one
shaped like a viol (or viola da
gamba) and the other like a
violin—but there are other
designs, such as that of a guitar.
- The double bass, also known as
the upright bass, the acoustic bass,
the bull fiddle, or simply the bass,
is the largest and lowest-pitched
chordophone in the modern
symphony orchestra. Similar in
structure to the cello, it has four or
five strings.
5. Guitarra -At least two instruments called
"guitars" were in use in Spain by
1200: the guitarra latina (Latin
guitar) and the so-called guitarra
morisca (Moorish guitar). The
guitarra morisca had a rounded
back, a wide fingerboard, and
several sound holes. The guitarra
Latina had a single sound hole
and a narrower neck.
- The guitar is a stringed musical
instrument that is usually fretted
and typically has six or twelve
strings.
BRASS BAND
INSTRUMENT
NAME OF THE INSTRUMENT DESCRIPTION
1. Trombone - A brass instrument consisting
of a long cylindrical metal tube
with two turns and having a
movable slide or valves for
varying the tone and a usual
range one octave lower than that
of the trumpet.
- A trombone is a large musical
instrument of the brass family. It
consists of two long oval tubes,
one of which can be pushed
backwards and forwards to play
different notes.
2.Flugelhorn - A brass instrument that
resembles the trumpet and cornet
but has a wider, more conical
bore. Like trumpets and cornets,
most flugelhorns are pitched in
B♭, though some are in C.
- Flügelhorn, brass musical
instrument, the valved bugle
used in European military bands.
It has three valves, a wider bore
than the cornet, and is usually
pitched in B♭, occasionally in C.
It was invented in Austria in the
1830s. In the mid-20th century
the flügelhorn found favour in
some jazz bands.
3.Tuba
- Tuba, deep-pitched brass wind
instrument with valves and wide
conical bore. The word tuba
originally was the name of a
straight-built Roman trumpet
and was the medieval Latin word
for trumpet. Valved bass brass
instruments for bands are
mentioned as early as 1829, but
little is now known about them.
4.Trumpet
- A wind instrument consisting
of a conical or cylindrical
usually metal tube, a cup-shaped
mouthpiece, and a flared bell.
Specifically, a valved brass
instrument having a cylindrical
tube with two turns and a usual
range from F sharp below
middle C upward for 2¹/₂
octaves.
- The trumpet is a brass
instrument commonly used in
classical and jazz ensembles.
The trumpet group ranges from
the piccolo trumpet—with the
highest register in the brass
family—to the bass trumpet ,
pitched one octave below the
standard B♭ or C trumpet.
5.Baritone Horn - The baritone horn, sometimes
called baritone, is a low-pitched
brass instrument in the saxhorn
family. It is a piston-valve brass
instrument with a bore that is
mostly conical, like the smaller
and higher pitched flugelhorn
and tenor horn, but it has a
narrower bore compared to the
similarly pitched euphonium.
- Horn, in music, any of several
wind instruments sounded by
vibration of the player's tensed
lips against a mouthpiece and
primarily derived from animal
horns blown at the truncated
narrow end or, as among many
tropical peoples, at a hole in the
side.
