Colloquim Abstract FINAL

The thesis investigates the effects of integrated nutrient management on the growth, yield, and quality of dolichos bean under southern Telangana conditions. The study found that a specific combination of fertilizers and biofertilizers significantly improved plant height, flowering time, yield attributes, and soil fertility, with the highest net returns and benefit-cost ratio achieved from the treatment involving 75% RDF, 12.5% FYM, and 12.5% vermicompost. Overall, the results suggest that optimized nutrient management can enhance the performance of dolichos bean cultivation.

ABSTRACT
The present investigation entitled "Studies on effect of Integrated nutrient
management on growth, yield and quality of dolichos bean (Lablab purpureus l.)
cv. Konkan Bhushan under southern telangana conditions" was conducted during
Rabi season from December 2021 to March 2022 at College of Horticulture,
Rajendranagar, Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University. The
experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with 11 treatments viz., T1
-75% RDF + 25% FYM + Rhizobium (50 g per kg seed), T2 - 75% RDF + 25%
FYM + Rhizobium (50 g per kg seed) + PSB (20 g per kg seed), T3 - 75% RDF +
25% Vermicompost + Rhizobium (50 g per kg seed), T4 - 75% RDF + 25%
Vermicompost + Rhizobium (50 g per kg seed) + PSB (20 g per kg seed), T5 - 75%
RDF + 12.5% FYM + 12.5% Vermicompost + Rhizobium (50 g per kg seed) +
PSB (20 g per kg seed), T6 - 50% RDF + 50% FYM + Rhizobium (50 g per kg
seed), T7 - 50% RDF + 50% FYM + Rhizobium (50 g per kg seed) + PSB (20 g
per kg seed), T8 - 50% RDF + 50% Vermicompost + Rhizobium (50 g per kg seed),
T9 - 50% RDF + 50% Vermicompost + Rhizobium (50 g per kg seed) + PSB (20 g
per kg seed), T10 -50% RDF + 25% FYM + 25% Vermicompost + Rhizobium (50
g per kg seed) + PSB (20 g per kg seed) and T11 - 100% RDF (Control).

The growth attributes were significantly affected due to the different INM
treatments. Application of inorganic fertilizers in combination with organic
manures and biofertilizers i.e., 75% RDF + 12.5% FYM + 12.5% Vermicompost
+ Rhizobium (50 g per kg seed) + PSB (20 g per kg seed) recorded significantly
higher plant height (29.81, 54.86 and 75.68 cm), number of nodes (3, 4.8 and 9.06)
and number of branches (5.26, 8.6 and 11.66) at 30, 60 and at final harvest
respectively.

The number of days required for first flowering and 50 per cent flowering
were significantly reduced (45.26 and 48.66 days respectively) in treatment
applied with 75% RDF + 12.5% FYM + 12.5% Vermicompost + Rhizobium (50 g
per kg seed) + PSB (20 g per kg seed).

The dolichos bean crop nourished with application of 75% RDF + 12.5%
FYM + 12.5% Vermicompost + Rhizobium (50 g per kg seed) + PSB (20 g per kg
seed) T5 recorded higher values of yield attributes viz., pod length (11.98 cm), pod
weight (4.96 g), pod width (1.81 cm), number of pods per plant (37), number of
seeds per pod (5.53), pod yield per plant (183.83 g) and pod yield per plot (5.14
kg) proved superior over other treatments under study.

The quality of the dolichos bean pod was significantly affected with
different INM treatments. The highest crude protein content in pod (24.53) and
Lower crude fibre (10.32) was found in the treatment T5 consisted of 75% RDF +
12.5% FYM + 12.5% Vermicompost + Rhizobium (50 g per kg seed) + PSB (20 g
per kg seed).

Soil fertility status viz., maximum available N, P and K in soil after final
harvesting (229.13, 15.63 and 297.9 kg ha-1) were obtained by the application of
T5 consisted of 75% RDF + 12.5% FYM + 12.5% Vermicompost + Rhizobium (50
g per kg seed) + PSB (20 g per kg seed). As well as maximum available soil organic
carbon (%) in soil after final harvesting (0.52 %) were obtained by the application
of T10 -50% RDF + 25% FYM + 25% Vermicompost + Rhizobium (50 g per kg
seed) + PSB (20 g per kg seed).
The maximum net returns (1,84,790 Rs/ha) were obtained with application
of 75% RDF + 12.5% FYM + 12.5% Vermicompost + Rhizobium (50 g per kg
seed) + PSB (20 g per kg seed) followed by treatment consisted of 75% RDF +
25% Vermicompost + Rhizobium (50 g per kg seed) + PSB (20 g per kg seed)
(1,63,760). Regarding Benefit cost ratio highest B:C ratio (3.22) was recorded in
treatment receiving 75% RDF + 12.5% FYM + 12.5% Vermicompost + Rhizobium
(50 g per kg seed) + PSB (20 g per kg seed) followed by treatment with 75% RDF
+ 25% Vermicompost + Rhizobium (50 g per kg seed) + PSB (20 g per kg seed)
(2.94).
