COMPUTER WORKSHOP
RATIONALE
This course aims to familiarize students with various parts of computers, how to assemble them, and
different types of peripherals. Additionally, it equips students with the necessary knowledge and
skills in computer software installation and maintenance, enabling them to diagnose software faults
effectively.

Part-A (Hardware)
1.1 Familiarization and Specifications of Computer Components
- Motherboard, Hard Disk Drive (HDD) / Solid State Drive (SSD), Floppy Disk Drive,
CD/DVD/Blu-ray Drives, Keyboard, Mouse, Display Devices, Memory Chips (RAM, ROM), Serial &
Parallel Ports, USB Ports, SATA & FireWire, Bluetooth, Printers, Network Interface Card (NIC),
Cooling Systems.
1.2 Introduction and Working Principle of UPS
- Battery backup, Surge protection, Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR), Types of UPS Systems:
Standby UPS, Line-Interactive UPS, Online UPS.
1.3 Assembling and Disassembling of PCs
- Installing components (motherboard, RAM, CPU, GPU, etc.), Connecting power supply,
Troubleshooting power issues, Cable management, BIOS configuration.
1.4 Setting Up Basic Infrastructure for Computers
- Power Layout, Air Conditioning, Earthing, Network Setup, Security Measures.
1.5 Operating System Installation and Software Configuration
