Carmen
My name is Carmen. Last summer I went to the United States. The plane ticket was very expensive and
the journey by plane was very long. It took 10 hours to get to JFK, the New York airport.
I was surprised because the JFK airport is enormous and there were lots of people. I was happy
to see my friend Katie waiting for me.
A few minutes later we were in a cab – a typical big and yellow New York taxi. We were in the car
for an hour. There were poor and rich areas, luxurious buildings in New York.
We went to Katie’s apartment to leave my bags and rest a bit. It was small and comfortable with a
nice view of the park. I wasn’t very tired so we went to see the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park. There
weren’t many people in the park, because it was early in the morning.
Then we had lunch and visited some nice museums. In the evening we went to world famous
Times Square. There were hundreds of people, huge neon lights, and advertisements. We also went to
one of the Broadway theatres to see a musical. It was great!
