Poverty means being unable to afford to meet the minimum
needs that are deemed reasonable by the standards of the
society in question (Ravallion, 1992).
The condition where the basic needs of a family, like food, shelter,
clothing, and education are not fulfilled. It can lead to other
problems like poor literacy, unemployment, malnutrition, etc. A
poor person is not able to get education due to lack of money
and therefore remains unemployed.
The population of the Philippines in 2024 was
118.2 million people, according to
DataReportal. The September 14-23, 2024
survey found 59% of families rating
themselves as poor or 16.3 million Filipinos.
ABSOLUTE
POVERTY
is a state of being in which a person lacks the
necessities of life, such as food, clothing, and shelter.

RELATIVE POVERTY
is a condition in which a person's income is
insufficient to meet his or her needs when compared
to others in society.
• Lack of Education
• Inequality
• Corruption
• Lack of Jobs
• Large of Family size
• OverPopulation
Lack of Education
-The reasons for the lack of education are difficulties, shortage of
school facilities, access to schools for students that are far from their
places, lack of resources, and other reasons. In short financial problem.

Inequality
- inequality in terms of income. In the Philippines, a small number of
people have a lot of money while many others struggle with poverty.
This is called income inequality, and it makes it difficult for many
Filipinos to have a good life.

Corruption
-In the Philippines, corrupt officials steal money meant for the poor,
leaving less for essential services and worsening poverty.
Lack of Jobs
-Lack of jobs in the Philippines means many people can't earn enough
money to meet their basic needs, leading to poverty.

Large of Family Size

-In the Philippines, large families can make it harder for people to
escape poverty. This is because having many children means there are
more mouths to feed and less money to go around for things like
education and healthcare.

Overpopulation
-Overpopulation in the Philippines means there are too many people for
the available resources, like jobs, food, and housing. This makes it
harder for everyone to have a good life and can lead to poverty.
• Corruption has to be erased.
• Unemployed will have to give proper employment.
• A growing population will have to be stopped.
• Education should be provided to children for
proper education.

These things will help people get better jobs, improve

their lives, and build a stronger economy.
In conclusion, poverty is not the problem of a person
but of the whole nation. Also, it should be deal with on
an urgent basis by the implementation of effective
measures. In addition, eradication of poverty has
become necessary for the sustainable and inclusive
growth of people, society, country, and economy.
