I am Satwik Udainiya from class

6B.Today I am going to present
a presentation on the
continents of the world.
Name of the continents

North America

South America

Asia

Europe

Australia

Africa

Antarctica
North America
It is the third largest continent and lies in the
northern hemisphere. The Atlantic Ocean lies to
the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west of
the continent. The Arctic Ocean makes its
boundary in the north. The continent of North
America is linked to South America by a narrow
stretch of land called the Isthamus of Panama It
has a panama canal which joins the Pacific
ocean with the Atlantic ocean.Canada and USA
are two major economically developed
countries of this continent.
South America
The larger part of it lies in Southern
Hemisphere.It is surrounded by the
Atlantic Ocean in the east and the Pacific
Ocean in the west.Brazil,Argentina and
chile are the major countriesin this
continent. The longest mountain range-
Andes and Amazon basin-the largest river
basin in the world,lie here.
Asia
It is the largest continent comprising of about
29.6 per cent of the earth's total land area.in
the north,it touches the Arctic Ocean, which is
very cold throughout the year.In the extreme
south, the equator passes through some parts of
this continent where temperature remains high
throughout the year.It is bounded by the Pacific
Ocean in the east and in the west, separated
fromeurope by the Ural mountains and Ural
river.the continent is divided into several large
and small countries.China and India are the two
most popuious countries of Asia.It is a vast
storehouse of agriculture and mineral
resources.
Europe
It is located to the west of Asia.Europe is much
smaller in area than Asia.It covers 7 per cent of
the total landmass. The Arctic Ocean lies to the
north, the Mediterranean Sea to the south and
the Atlantic Ocean lies to the west of
Europe.Almost all the countries of Europe are
very advanced.They are economically wel
developed with a high standard of living.
Astralia
This continent lies completely in the Southern
Hemisphere. It is the smallest continent. It is
surrounded by the Indian Ocean in the west and
the Pacific Ocean in the east. The Southern
Ocean in the South Australia is also known as
the island continent, which is sparsely
populated.
Africa
It is the second largest and the hottest
continent. It is separated from Europe by the
Mediterranean Sea in the north. A very narrow
piece of land known as Suez Isthamus, joins it
with Asia in the north-east. It has the famous
Suez canal. The Atlantic Ocean is onn its west
and the Indian Ocean on it's east. The Equator
passes through the middle of Africa. However,
the larger part of Africa lies in the Northern
Hemisphere. The Tropic of Cancer and the
Tropic of Capricorn also pass through Africa. A
vast land of North Africa is a desert and a large
area of Africa is covered with dense forests.
Antarctica
This continent lies in the southern-most part of
the Southern Hemisphere. It is stretched around
the South Pole up to the Antarctic Circle. In the
north, it is surrounded by Southern Ocean. The
continent is covered with very thick sheets of
ice and snow. It is estimated that three-fourths
of the total mass of ice of the earth is found in
Antarctica.
Due to very cold conditions, the land is not
inhabited by human beings. Scientists of some
countries established their research centres
here. India has also established it's research
centre in Antarctica.
