Introduction:
Pokémon Pocket Cup is a fan-made, extended Trading Card Game (TCG) Format

inspired by the new upcoming Pokémon Pocket game in October 2024. This is a

fast

paced format designed to be accessible to players of all ages while still staying

true to

the original TCG game. The general premise of this format is to give old cards

and

underpowered cards a place to shine and finally find some use. Lastly, this

format is

intended to make Pokémon TCG more accessible to children and budget players

while providing the depth and variety we’ve come to know from the Pokémon

TCG.

Deck Building Changes:

 Each Deck must have 30 Cards exactly, and only 2 of each card with the same

name.

 Banned List: Pokémon with a 2+ Prize Rule Box, Cards in Extended Format

Ban List,

Cards that draw equal to Prize Cards, and Cards that can win a game turn 1

going first.

 Restricted (1): Pokémon that can do damage which exceeds that Pokémon’s
base HP

with only the text printed on that card (i.e. Cinccino TEF137 or Snorlax 143),

and

Legendary, Mythical, Ancient, or Future Pokémon that share a name (1 per

Pokémon)

regardless of any Attributes. For Example, all Darkrai would be Restricted to 1.

 Exceptions : Cards restricted based on damage with a difficult or unreliable

mechanic,

such as a coin flip, having zero cards in hand, or requiring the use of another

attack, etc.

General Rules Changes:

 Each player starts with one Basic Pokémon in play before Coin Flip. No

mulligans allowed.

 Do not set Prize Cards. Replace ‘More Prize Cards’ text on Cards with ‘More

Knockouts.’

 All Card effects with values 3-4 are minus 1, and 5+ are minus 2 (i.e. Nemona

draws 2).

 You only need 3 Knockouts to win, your starting hand is 5, and your bench size

is 3.

 Cards that reference banned Pokémon Attributes are treated as “Any Rule Box

Pokémon.”
