Du Ah

The life of a barista is quite monotone. Early coffee rush for students and workers, then dead time
until the next rush, usually around lunch time.
Du Ah started working in the cafè after graduating, to raise a bit to help pay his university taxes.
Sure, he’s not the best in the Language Departement, but that wasn’t his goal. Being an average
student is fine too.
In his three years of working, the most remembered customer is a young woman, around his age,
with fair skin and dark eyes. He fell in love at first sight, and even more after hearing her
melodious voice.

Her name is BeiWeiWei, at least that’s how she orders her drinks. He thinks he knows quite a lot
about her. After meeting her for two years, he can sense her mood by the drink she orders.
Usually she is at least with one or more girls,spending some time chatting with them on the
couches in the shop, and he feel blessed when he can steal some glances in her direction in days
like these.
Being a shy guy, often made fun of by his coworkers, he never found the courage to confess his
feelings.

Today is a good day, looking at the drink she is ordering. In his head, she is already WeiWei but
Du Ah knows that such a level of intimacy is far from the one he has with her. Apart from the
customary “Hello, what can I get you?” and “Here’s you drink, have a nice day!”, they never had
any kind of real conversation, he doesn’t even know if she memorized his tag name.

“One strawberry bubble tea, please” WeiWei orders, with a smile on her face.
That means really good mood, according to her habits.
Du Ah is almost to show his stalkerish side by asking ‘Why are you in such a good mood?’ but
luckily he can contain himself.
“Name, please.” He asks, out of habit.
“BeiWeiWei.”
He nods, before turning around and working on her drink.
Today isn’t a busy day, almost no one is around, and the atmosphere is cosy, almost like the one
of a romantic drama.
Sensing the calm and relaxing mood, Du Ah starts to hum while looking at the cup in his hand
and the marker in the other.
Oh well, I can always try… He thinks, before fixing the glasses on his nose, and scribbling a
second time on the cup.

“One strawberry bubble tea for BeiWeiWei” he calls out a few minutes later. He hasn’t felt so
anxious since the time he had to took the entrance exam for University.
WeiWei thanks him with a smile, before going back on a small couch near the windows.
Du Ah doesn’t even have the time to look for her reaction that a new customer comes. The man
gives so much confidence that attracts your attention, even without the help of his looks.
His female coworker almost shoves him to the ground and takes his order. Du Ah is left without
doing nothing but stare at the girl on the couch, when the sad voice of his coworker calls him to
do the order. What happened?
While filling the cup he is left to think.
The man’s face is familiar, but the barista cannot say why. He is left wondering to himself, while
preparing his drink.
Old customer? Classmate? Famous idol?
“One americano for….. WeiWei’s husband? ” His question ends on a high tone, between disbelief
and surprise.
Being so loud, he attracts the attention of most of the people in the shop, and the beautiful girl he
has a crush on, reaches the counter red-faced.
“Xiao Nai!”
‘She is so cute when she is mad!’ That’s the only thing Du Ah can think of, before realising what
is happening before his eyes.

Xiao Nai hands now rest on WeiWei’s back, with a silent laugh on his lips. “I’ve missed you too.”
He says, before taking the drink and bringing her back to her previous seat.
Du Ah is so on the verge to die.

(It’s also to be said that Xiao Nai’s revenge was done quickly this time. As he saw the love
confession written on his girlfriend’s cup from the window, he had already made up his mind.
Having such a beautiful wife was so tiring sometimes, but it was worth the hard work.)

Chapter Notes

to be honest I'm not really happy about this chapter but anyway enjoy it!

Gong Chen

Gong Chen’s crush starts on the first day of school. He is a first-year, newly entered in University,
and he’s currently helping her sister bring her stuff in her dorm.
That’s when he sees her, his goddess. She is followed by an old couple, that fusses over her like a
daughter, before sending her off on the dorm’s steps.
He is so focused on her looks that doesn’t hear her friends joking on how her in-laws dropped her
off. He is just trying to memorize her appearance.

He guesses, after the first week, that she is his upper-classmate. He also start hearing rumors about
the most gorgeous couple produced by the Department, Xiao Nai and Bei Wei Wei. Sure, they
can be as gorgeous as they want, but they won’t be at his crush’s level.

The cafeteria is a dead end, since he can’t even meet her here. Desperate, he is on the point to give
up, when she appears in the library!
Gong Chen cannot believe his eyes, and quickly asks his friend to pinch him. The pain is real, and
she is too.
He notices he’s not the only one looking at her, but no one dares to approach, and even his friend
is silently looking at her in awe.
“She… she is our Department Beauty! You should know just from this that she’s unapproachable!
And rumors says she’s already interning in a really important company!”

Nothing more happens, until during one of Professor Xiao’s boring class she is back. With a small
smile she enters and hand some papers to the man.
His smile is like the one of a proud father, especially when he asks her when they’ll have another
dinner together.
Her blushing face makes Gong Chen’s heart flutter even more, and he actually just stares at her
until she leaves the room.
He sees a lot of disappointed looking guys, the face you would made after discovering your crush
is taken, but he actually doesn’t know why, as he was too focused at looking at his goddess rather
than hearing her words.

Catching glimpses of her is really difficult, especially given the age gap and different classes. He
now dubbed her “Goddess Xiao” - she is the daughter of Professor Xiao, so her surname is the
same, right?
His luck in the library is even worse, and on the blog the only talk is always about the
“Department Couple”. He doesn’t care! He just wants to know where to find his goddess again!

His mopey face makes his sister soft-hearted, and so she invites him to eat out with some friends in
a local restaurant near the University.
While enjoying his dessert and chatting with one of his roommate it’s where he sees her.
in a table not far away from their, an old couples is sit, and they are taken aback when they realize
they are their Professor. Even more when the beautiful goddess enters the restaurant hand in hand
with a handsome guy.
Professor Xiao, with a fake-sad tone talks to the guy “Son, how is that possible that I have to call
Wei Wei just to see you having dinner with me and your mother? At least she’s a good daughter-
in-law! Sometimes I wonder how can she have chosen you!”
That makes their entire table laugh, before starting a lively chat.

A girl with them, Si Mu Cheng, if Gong Chen remembers correctly, fills them with important
information. They are the Power Couple of the IT Department, Xiao Nai and Bei Wei Wei, they
have been dating for almost a year and everyone in school knew that. Even more the fact that both
Professors - and even the Department Dean and every other Professor in their school - already
considered her part of the Xiao family.

Gong Chen felt pretty sad about this information, but it is to be said that his desire for a girlfriend
was stronger and Si Mu Cheng looked especially cute that night…

(even if Xiao Nai this time couldn’t find his specific target, he started to show his face more
around University, holding hands with his wife and accompanying her around, while
remembering out loud that her in-laws were really happy if she would marry in his family, and
making his wife blush madly. Rumors about them were as loud as usual, and most of the time
accompanied by high quality photos - Xiao Nai even framed some to put in his office.)

Chapter Notes

I guess at this point I can consider Wei Wei like an Oblivious character.
Maybe I should try and write one where she realise someone is hitting on her ahah

On another note, I cannot 100% assure an update for next week too, since this is the
last one that is fully written. The other three have just the names of the characters and
some ideas for the plot, but I haven't written them yet.
You can blame this on me, binge-watching Korean and Japanese Dramas all day.

Luo Tai

After years of studying and months of looking around, finally Luo Tai had found a job.
An actual top-tier one, for the newly founded Zhi Yi. Sure, he cannot say he's part of the
“original” team that created “Rivers and Lakes 2”, since he's joining almost a year later from the
time the first news on the project came out, but the company is the talk of everyone in the game
industry and he feels proud to work for them. He's not the only newbie, joining the company with
other three guys. He had met them while waiting for the elevator and they got along nicely.
With an excited smile, they are greeted by the secretary at the front desk, who handles their papers
and gives them their pass. Luo Tai starts looking around and he's slowly hit with an horrible
realization. The company is made up 100% by males. Zero chances for an office romance like the
ones his sister loves to read - don't judge him; bathroom are a horrible place to forget to bring your
phone to since he can only rely on the books his sister leaves there to pass time.
His hopes are quickly reaching zero by the time the office tour is finished, when a voice catches
everyone's attention.

“Sorry, I’m late!”

In this place full of men, here she is! She's already a beautiful woman, Luo Tai thinks, but maybe
even more in this male-populated office. She sends a sweet smile in their directions and Luo Tai
swears he's not the only one blushing.
“Junior Wei Wei, don't worry! Bro Xiao won't kill you! He knows you have lessons in these
days!” a guy from the coding department says, at which the young woman - Wei Wei, his mind
supplies - nods, before sitting with her laptop on the table to start working.

The man guiding them - Luo Tai has already decided he’ll learn all the names but later - proudly
nods in her direction. “She’s our precious intern Wei Wei. Please don’t bother her too much.” Luo
Tai almost feels like it’s some kind of warning to not approach her too much. But well, she’s kind
to everyone, at least from what he noticed in these few minutes, and everyone loves her
platonically, so maybe she’s single and all the guys around her are worried about ruining this
peaceful environment.
Well, Luo Tai likes the atmosphere, but he likes Wei Wei more.

The first few days are uneventful. They don’t even see the Big Boss - “Call him Brother Xiao”,
they are told by Yu Ban Shan - but Wei Wei is plenty around and they even get to have lunch
with her once.
Luo Tai’s love-struck expression is difficult to hide, but the guys around him just say nothing
while trying to making him not-interested in the only girl at the workplace.
Just a shame that this help him being even more interested in her.

When he finally meets Xiao Nai, it’s a boring Monday morning.

Boring because testing the NPCs all day, without even catching a glimpse of the beautiful girl
every once in a while, is actually the worst. On top of it it’s also Monday, the first the of the week;
if this starts badly how will it end?!
“Bro Xiao your wife came by in this week! You have seen her before coming here, right?” A guy
from the design department says, while Luo Tai is on a coffee break with the other guys and Xiao
Nai.
Wife? Boss, is actually married?
“Yes, I had breakfast with her in university, before her classes. She’ll probably come by this
afternoon.”

Luo Tai is confused, especially because he hasn’t seen any other woman besides Wei Wei. And
he’s sure she doesn’t have any kind of ring - engagement or wedding.
Maybe she was here while he was out?
He doesn’t care too much, even if his mind actually thinks Xiao Nai and Wei Wei could be a
beautiful couple.

Poor guy Luo Tai doesn’t get his answers for an entire week, where Wei Wei doesn’t show up,
followed by his and the other newbie’s complaints in the coffee room.
And even worse, he felt like the end of his life the next day.

Imagine a normal day, another shitty Monday and still no sight of Wei Wei for more than seven
days. His life is near the end, his hopes for a possible romance are piling up, and he doesn’t even
know if they’ll work.
Enter Wei Wei, with her beautiful smile, and Luo Tai already knows he’s done. He’ll probably
confess by the end of the day. He needs to see her more.

But! Plot twist, because of course Monday couldn’t be worse for our hero Luo Tai.
Bro Xiao comes out of his office and Wei Wei smile is even bigger. He confidently strides in her
direction, and then! under everyone’s eyes, he kisses her lips lightly.
“I’ve missed you, my wife.” These words echoes in the silent room, under everyone’s surprised
gaze. The only undisturbed one are his old roommates and KO - the first because they know how
jealous is their Third Bro and the later because he actually doesn’t care.

Luo Tai feels his heart break in the silence of the room, while he looks at a mad Wei Wei, trying
to hide her blush while punching lightly Xiao Nai’s shoulder.
He should read other romance novels, from now on, and maybe burn all his sister’s office
romance too.

(Xiao Nai actually overheard them once complaining about his wife’s absence during their break
and of course his level of protectiveness and jealousy raised up. Maybe he should really get her a
ring soon.)
