Logical thinking helps us to solve every tricky situation. Put on your thinking hat to solve the
puzzle given below.

THE SHOWMAN , HIS TIGER, A DUCK AND THE SACK OF CORN

How good are you at thinking logically? This is an old problem. You need to help the
showman to cross a river with his tiger, duck, and sack of corn.

 There is a boat but it is so small that it can

hold the showman and the one of the
others.

 The showman can’t leave the tiger with the

duck as duck will be eaten. He can’t leave
the duck with the corn as he fears of losing
the corn.
 Find some toys and pretend they are the showman, tiger, duck, and corn. Make a river
with blue paper.
 Put all the toys on one side of the river. What would happen if the showman took the tiger
over first? Is it a better plan to take corn? Would it be good idea to take the duck?

 When you think you have worked out

how it could be done, make up a short
story with the toys and write in your own
words.
