Me Kong Delta

Mekong delta is made up of 13 provinces: Long An, Tiền Giang, Bến Tre, Hậu Giang, Kiên
Giang, An Giang, Đồng Tháp, Trà Vinh, Sóc Trăng, Vĩnh Long, Cần Thơ, Bạc Liêu and Cà Mau

Mekong delta is about 40.000 square kilometers (km2) in area. The region is made up of
extensive networks of rivers, canals, and lush green rice fields.

Climate
The Mekong Delta has a tropical monsoon climate, with two main seasons: the rainy season (and
the dry season. Especially, in the rainy season the color of all the rivers are brown because of the
alluvium, in the sunny season the color changes into light blue.

Cuisine
Hu tieu My tho: This noodle dish combines prawns with pork and liver, sometimes featuring
fish balls or squid. Optional toppings like spring onions, shallots, and chives add color to the
flavorful pork broth.
Banh xeo: Banh Xeo, named for its sizzling sound, is a crispy Mekong Delta pancake filled with
pork, shrimp, chicken, and beansprouts, dipped in fish sauce

Festival
Ngo Boat Racing Festival: is a vibrant Khmer boat racing festival in the Mekong Delta, held
during Ok Om Bok festival. This boat race is both a “cultural and spiritual” event, symbolizing
unity, strength, and gratitude to the gods for a good harvest.

Destination
Cai Rang Floating Market in Can Tho: Cai Rang floating market is located on Cai Rang river,
Cai Rang district. Cai Rang floating market is famous for its unique and interesting elements. It
is a bustling hub where traders sell fresh produce, seafood, and local dishes from boats.
In 2016, Cai Rang floating market was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.
More than just a market, it offers a unique glimpse into the daily life of the Mekong Delta’s boat-
dwelling communities.
Tra Su Cajuput forest: is a beautiful flooded forests with abundant “wildlife and biodiversity”
that is best explored by boat. Visitors may float along beautiful rivers, observe tall cajuput trees,
and enjoy panoramic views from watchtowers.

Dong Thap Lotus Fields: Dong Thap’s vast lotus fields bloom from June to November,
creating a stunning pink landscape. Visitors can take boat rides through the lotus ponds, enjoy
traditional lotus-based dishes like lotus seed porridge and tea, and take stunning photos of the
serene landscape

Ben Tre: known as Vietnam’s Coconut Kingdom, is famous for its lush orchards, scenic canals,
and traditional crafts. Visitors can explore coconut candy workshops, enjoy boat rides through
tranquil waterways, and experience local village life.
