Skills badges are an important milestones in a partner’s learning journey

Labs & quests are teaching tools while challenge labs are testing tools that ultimately lead to skills badges

Lab
A lab, also referred to as a “hands-on lab”, is a learning experience that walks you through tasks in
Google Cloud. Using scenario based use case, a learner follows a set of instructions in a specified
amount of time in an interactive environment. Labs are completed in the real GCP console.

Quest
A quest is a set of 6-10 labs, all related to a specific topic or use case, that teach you how to use a product or
tool. Quests range in difficulty from introductory to advanced. Complete all the labs in a Quest to earn a
digital badge (skills badge) which you can share on social networks.

Lab completion is carried over across different quests.

This means that if a lab is included in multiple quests, a learner’s completion is carried over into future quests.

Challenge Lab
A challenge lab is a hands-on lab that does not provide prescriptive steps. They require learner to build
a solution with minimal guidance using the skills learned to figure out how to complete the tasks on their
own.

Many Google Cloud certification learning paths will include skill badges as a part of the curriculum
