Fufu
PREP + COOK TIME: 30 MIN SERVINGS: 4-6
Directions
1. In a large pot, bring water to a boil. The amount of water needed will depend on the quantity of
fufu you're preparing.
2. While the water is boiling, measure the fufu flour according to the package instructions or your
desired serving size. Typically, a ratio of 2 cups of fufu flour to 3 cups of water is a good starting
point.
3. Gradually add the fufu flour to the boiling water, stirring continuously with a wooden spoon or a
fufu stick. The exact amount of flour needed may vary, so add it slowly until you achieve the
desired consistency.
4. Keep stirring vigorously to avoid lumps and ensure the mixture is smooth. The fufu will begin to
thicken and pull away from the sides of the pot.
5. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Allow the fufu to cook for about 5-10 minutes,
depending on the type of fufu flour used. This cooking time helps to ensure that the fufu is fully
cooked and free from any raw taste.
6. Remove the pot from the heat and continue to stir the fufu vigorously for a few minutes. This
helps to further smoothen the texture and eliminate any remaining lumps.
7. Wet your hands with water to prevent sticking, and quickly shape the fufu into small balls or
smooth it into a large mound.
8. Serve the fufu immediately with your desired soup, stew, or sauce. Fufu is traditionally eaten by
tearing off small pieces of the fufu and using them to scoop up the accompanying dish.
