                What is it
How do you find the volume of rectangular prism?
Remember this:
          Volume is measured in cubic units such as cubic centimeters ( 𝒄𝒎𝟑 ),
           cubic meters ( 𝒎𝟑 ) and cubic millimeters ( 𝒎𝒎𝟑)
          Use V = l x w x h to find the volume of a rectangular prism. Here l is the
           length, w is the width and h is the height of the rectangular prism.
          Use V = 𝒔𝟑 to find the volume of a cube. Here, s is an edge of a cube.

          An aquarium has a length of 120 centimeters, a width of 60 centimeters, and
    a height of 100 centimeters. How much water is needed to fill the aquarium?
How will you solve the problem?
You can solve the problem following these steps:
                STEPS                                 ANSWER
Understand:
        Know what is asked in the The amount of water needed to fill the

        Know the given facts        length = 120 cm; width = 60 cm;
                                      height = 100 cm
Plan:
        Determine the operation or Multiplication: V = l x w x h
         formula to use
Solve:
                                      V=lxwxh
        Show the solution using the    = Substitute 120 for l, 60 for w, and
         formula                           100 for h
                                        = 120 cm x 60 cm x 100 cm
                                      V = 720 000 𝒄𝒎𝟑

To solve routine and non-routine word problem involving the volume
of a rectangular prism:
        We use the 4-step plan in solving the problem
        We use the appropriate formula
                V=lxwxh
How about if the volume is given and either the length, width, or height is missing?
How will you solve it?
Example:
                 A building is 16 meters long and 9 meters wide. It has a volume of
            3 312 cubic meters. How tall is the building?
                STEPS                                 ANSWER
 Understand:
         Know what is asked in the The height of the building.

         Know the given facts       Volume = 3 312 𝑐𝑚3 ; length = 16 cm;
                                     width = 9 cm
 Plan:
         Determine the operation or Multiplication and Division:
          formula to use             h = V÷ (l x w)
 Solve:
                                                 h = V÷ ( l x w )
           Show the solution using the            = substitute 3 312𝑐𝑚3 for V, 16 cm for l
            formula                                  and 9 cm for w
                                                   = 3 312 𝑐𝑚3 ÷ (16 cm x 9 cm)
                                                   = 3 312 ÷ 144
                                                 h = 23 m
