Population Problem in Bangladesh.

Introduction: Balanced population is a blessing for any country. On the contrary,


overpopulation is a curse. It is a burden. This is true in case of Bangladesh. Bangladesh is a
small country. Her population is huge. Her population is growing very rapidly. After
independence, the population has already doubled. In respect of population, it is the eighth
largest country in the world. In fact, it is the greatest problem of Bangladesh.
Causes: There are many reasons behind it. The first and foremost cause is ignorance. Most of
the people are not conscious of its consequences. For, they are not literate. Their knowledge
of family planning is not passable. Social superstition is a great obstacle to birth control.
Another main cause is early marriage. For most part, rural girls are married off before their
maturity. Lack of female education is another cause. Illiterate girls are not aware of the
consequence of having more and more children. They are not aware of their health.
Effects: The effects of overpopulation are many. First of all, the country is facing food
scarcity. So many people are to remain hungry daily. The second effect is housing problem.
The land area of the country is extremely limited. So many people are houseless. They are to
live under the open sky. For use population the poor people are deprived of all basic needs.
Overpopulation leads the country to unemployment problem. Drug addiction, kidnapping,
traffic jam, snatching and various types of social crimes result in overpopulation. Economic
depression is going on throughout the country. In a word, the country is lagging behind from
world quarters.
Way of solution: The following measures candy prescribed to solve the problem. Firstly, all
should be educated. Secondly, the value of heavily planning should be introduced among all.
Thirdly, early marriage should be discouraged. Fourthly, famous religious figures should
come forward. Fifthly, electronic and print media shoot play a vital role. Sixthly, the
government itself should try it best. Last of all, various types of encouraging program should
be staged.
Conclusion: In fine, we can say that our population should be controlled at any cost.
Conscious people should work together with the government in this regard. However, birth
control is getting popular day by day. The black shade of overpopulation is scudding across
the country.
