E. DISCUSSION

Recycling is the process of converting

waste materials into new materials and
objects. This concept often includes the
recovery of energy from waste materials. It
can also prevent the waste of potentially
useful materials and reduce the consumption
of fresh raw materials, reducing energy use
air pollution from incineration and water
pollution.

5S Principles of recycling

1. Sort- Is where waste is sorted into

categories , according to material or
recyclability.

2. Set in order – A place for everything in its

place. Workers position items based on use,
with frequently needed items kept closer at
hand. Every item that made it through the
sort stage is given storage space.

3. shiny clean( Systematic cleaning) - This

phase focuses on shining and cleaning
everything to spot hidden problems.

4. Standardize cleaning- Involves putting the

systems in place to ensure that everyone
does thigs the same way.
5. Sustain- The goal is to stick to the new
rules.
