presented as any issue with the potential to help or harm anyone, including
oneself.
Examples:
1.Experiments on Animals
2. Abortion
3. Euthanasia

2. A social issue is a problem that affects many people within a society. It is a group of
common problems in present-day society.
1.Poverty
2. Unemployment
3. Unequal opportunity
4. Racism
5. Malnutrition
6. Employment
7. Discrimination

3. Economic issues are economic priorities, risks or problem. It means the problem of
making choices that occurs because of the scarcity of resources. It arises because people
have unlimited desires but the means to satisfy that desire is limited. Therefore, satisfying
all human needs is difficult with limited means.
Examples:
1. Government spending
2. What to produce and what quantity to produce?
3. How to produce?
4. For whom to produce the goods?
5. How efficient are the resources being utilised?
4. Environmental issues are the harmful effects of human activities on the
envionment. These include pollution, overpopulation, waste disposal, climate
change, global warming, the greenhouse effect, etc.
Why environmental issues?
A healthy environment supplies the necessities of life, like water, food and air. It
also provides resources for economic growth and the means to fight natural hazards.

What is a value judgement?

It is an evaluative statement of how good or bad you think an idea or action is. A value
judgement is often prescriptive, i.e. a normative view might be expressed that reveals
certain attitudes or behaviors toward the world. One of the key drivers in making decisions
and exercising good judgment is an individual's own set of values, that being a set of deeply
held beliefs about some. A value judgment can be defined as an evaluation of the usefulness
of something or someone based on comparison or other relativity. It can also be a judgment
about the rightness or wrongness of someone or something. It thus refers to a judgment
that’s made based upon a set of values or a particular value system.

Value judgment examples

That’s great, that’s despicable, that’s
shameful, that’s good, that’s bad, that’s
admirable, that shouldn’t be, that should
be, that’s right, that’s wrong.
As you can see, all those are examples of
value judgments, and are based upon a set
of values or someone’s particular value system

Why lay value judgment to critical issues?

As a citizen of this country, and a member of the society, there is a great need to
participate actively in issues which affect us directly and indirectly. We need to take
a stand and do something to effect change. Your community, country need you. If no
one will take a stand, who else will do? That’s why , we need to know what we are
facing right now and where we are heading to, to make necessary adjustments and
changes, to make this world a better place not only for us but for the generations to
come.
