1.0 Chairman’s Speech
1.1 The chairman thanked and welcomed the committee to the second English Languange Panel
meeting for the year 2019.

2.0 Confirmation of Minutes
2.1 The previous minutes are read. Ms. Goh proposed the meeting to be confirmed and
seconded by Ms.Wong.

3.0 Agenda 3 : Matters Arise
3.1 English teacher for class 1H is Mdm. Yee Poh Wai and English teacher for class 4H is Ms.
Goh Pei Shan.
3.2 Teachers are reminded to use I-Think maps in PdP and expose pupils with HOTS ( Higher
Order Thinking Skills) questions.
3.3 Assesment - Minimum Assignments/ Homeworks for Students Teachers have to make sure
that they carry out their respective tasks accordingly and keep monirtoring the quality and quantity
of pupil’s work. Teachers are advised to mark the pupil’s homework within 3 days of the
assignment date and also indicate the date after they have marked their books.

Paper 1
Generally, pupils of level 2 did not perform well in this paper . Pupils did badly in Section B as the task are
in written form. Due to less exposure and practice, pupils could not attempt the tasks given. Level 2 pupils
could only faired within 40-50%.
Paper 2
Pupils also did badly in this paper as it is a written paper. Pupils could not comprehend the question in
Section B.( Paragraph Writing - emails/letters/notes etc). It is a formatted writing and the pupils can’t
express their thoughts in writing. It was also due to interference of the mother tongue and lacked of
vocabulary command. Pupils also weak in Section C.(Note Expansion).

AGENDA 5: Co-curriculum Activities and Competitions
5.1 Internal Competition - to be held on April 2019
Action Song Competition & Storytelling Competition - Minimum 3 participants and maximum 5
participants from each class ( from Year 1-6)

5.2 External Competitions
* English Language Carnival ( Jul/Aug)
Pupils will be trained to take part in the story telling competition.
External competitions are usually held in the kelompok 5 and the 1ˢͭ
Prize winner will represent the kelompok to the district level.
5.3 English Language Society will be held on Tuesday.
Teachers are encouraged to use this activities and other suitable language based activities. Teachers will also
train the pupils for external English competitions.

Agenda 6: Postmortem
6.1 KSSR English June 2019
The decrease of percentage for the respective classes were mainly due to :
- carelessness
- weak grammar/ vocabulary command.
- confusion in Subject - Verb - Agreement.
- difficulties in sentence construction & comprehension

Agenda 7: Strategic Plans
7.1 Programme Sinar Pagi for Pupils Year 1 to 6 (Jan - Nov)
Grammar Study/ Vocabulary Drilling / Social Expressions.
7.2 Kelas Tambahan ( Year 1 - 6) (Jan- Oct)
Pupils will be trained to answer UPSR New Format Model Questions Paper 1 & 2.
7.3 Motivational Camp (Year 6)
Pupils of Year 6 will be exposed to the techniques of answering UPSR New
Format questions Paper 1 & 2. Guidelines to be followed while answering the questions.
7.4 Program HIP activities in class is Bacaan Pagi.
Program HIPactivities out class are A Word A Day,Mari Belajar Bahasa Inggeris ( English Corner),
Activities Extra Class and Word Hunters.
