1 Hardware and System Requirements

1.1 System Requirements

Supported Operating System


- Windows 7
- Windows XP Service Pack 3
- Windows Vista Service Pack 1 or later

Supported Architectures:
- x86
- x64

Hardware Requirements
Recommended Minimum: Pentium 1 GHz or higher with 512 MB RAM or more
Minimum disk space:
- x86 – 850 MB
- x64 – 2 GB
Minimum screen resolution: 1024x768
Recommended screen resolution: 1280x1024

1.2 Interfaces to connect to the SUPREMA


The PC must be equipped with:
- USB port or
- Serial port

2 Installation

Administration rights are required for installation.

If a previous version of SUPREMA has been installed, it needs to be uninstalled before


this version can be installed.
To uninstall SUPREMA Manager:
Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Programs/Programs and Features
Right-click the entry "SUPREMA Manager + MSA-App".

(1) Insert CD-ROM.


 Run the setup file on the CD-ROM to install both MSA-App and the SUPREMA Manager.
 Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.
(2) Start the SUPREMA Manager program on the PC.
To start SUPREMA Manager, use the following path:
Start/Programs/MSA/MSA-App/MSA-App

In case you have the software PrimaX Manager installed on your PC you will find two
entries under MSA "MSA-App" and "MSAApp". For running the SUPREMA Manager
start the "MSA-App" entry.

(3) After completion of the setup start the software once with administrator rights/permis-
sion!

SUPREMA Manager and other software programs from MSA run as PlugIns inside the host ap-
plication MSA-App. When SUPREMA Manager is installed, MSA-App is part of this installation.
The screen of the MSA-App has the following layout:

 Use this button to change between PlugIns.


 The active PlugIn is shown (name and icon).

(1) Choose SUPREMA Manager from the list of PlugIns.


 The PlugIn version is shown.
(2) Close the overview with the Close button.
 The chosen PlugIn is active.

Every window with a Close button has to be closed with this button to continue.

Menu area
The menu has three entries, the first one is specific to the active PlugIn and appears after a PlugIn
has been chosen, in case of SUPREMA Manager, it is Settings (see chapter 4).
The settings for the MSA-App can be changed with Extra.

Info shows information about MSA-App and the PlugIn running.

4 Initial Setup
General communication setting (COM Port, Baudrate, Timeout) and Database Location can be
set under Settings in the MSA-App toolbar.

4.1 Database Path


When starting the SUPREMA Manager for the first time the following screen will appear:

SUPREMA Manager asks you to select a location for the database to store the data. If you already
have an existing database use "Open existing database" to select the location in your file system.
The data entered with the SUPREMA Manager is stored in a database file (.sdf). Before any data
can be entered, the Database File path must be defined.
(1) Choose the location for the database on the PC.

4.2 Data Management


At least one data set is required for SUPREMA Manager. When the SUPREMA Data Selection
fields are still empty, the button to open Data Management is marked red.

(1) Click on the button marked red to open Data Management.
 The following screen appears.

(2) Enter the necessary information.

Add new new customer, location or SUPREMA entry

Edit current customer, location or SUPREMA entry

Delete current customer, location or SUPREMA entry

Apply the changes

Create a copy of the of the selected SUPREMA entry

The text entered in the fields Name and Info is free text, Info can be left empty.
The data for SUPREMA (COM port, Baudrate, Timeout and Firmware) may have to be adapted.
When more than one Customer or Location have been entered, a Location can be moved between
Customers and a SUPREMA can be moved between Customer and Location.
Data Management can also be used to import an existing data file or export data using the buttons
Import Exchange File and Export Exchange File. The file format is .sup.
(3) Finish with the Close button.
Data can be changed or added later. The working SUPREMA data set is displayed at the top of
the Toolbar (SUPREMA Data Selection).
