TRAGEDY
It is a theatrical play that depicts a
strong-willed protagonist's struggle against
fate as decreed by enigmatic, divine, social,
or psychological forces. The conflict usually
ends in calamity, which is typically brought on
by the protagonist's character flaw.
  COMEDY
It is a serious play with lighthearted characters
that often has a happy and upbeat finish. a genre
of dramatic performance having a light or
humorous tone that depicts amusing incidents
and in which the characters ultimately triumph
over adversity.
  DRAMA
It is a play that is “for real”. The characters
represent realistic and everyday people. A
drama is attractive, impactful and real as it
presents characters along with a natural and
credible aspects.
MELODRAMA
It is a dramatic composition that favors
storyline and physical action over personality
and indulges in exaggerated theatricality. a
sensational dramatic piece with
exaggeratedcharacters and exciting events
intended to appeal to the emotions.

SARSWELA
is a Spanish lyric-dramatic
genre that alternates between
spoken and sung scenes, the
latter incorporating operatic and
popular songs, as well as
dance.
EPIC POETRY
An epic poem is a lengthy,
narrative work of poetry. These
long poems typically detail
extraordinary feats and
adventures of characters from a
distant past.
DUPLO
The duplo is a poetic debate
presented through song and dance,
which originated from indigenous
courtship customs. Poets used
proverbs and riddles to present
their suit to the woman of their
choice.
MORO MORO
moro-moro, also called
comedia, the earliest
known form of organized
theatre in the Philippines; it
was created by Spanish
priests.
SENAKULO
It is also known as Passion
play. This dramatization of the
life and death of Jesus Christ
has been a part of the lives of
the Catholics and is celebrated
during Holy Week.
TRADITIONAL FOLKDANCE
It is one of the oldest forms of
theater and thus an important part
of our heritage today. These are
dances that reflect the lives of the
people in a certain place or region
and describe their culture and
origin.
 BODABIL
It is Vaudeville of American origin
that became uniquely Filipino with
the localization of the name, Bodabil.
It is a variety show consisting of
musical numbers and comedic and
dramatic skits with songs and
dances.

Through the use of appropriate movement,
gesture, and dance, these components aid
in conveying the message to the audience.

understand the artist's job.
 COSTUME, MASK, MAKEUP AND ACCESSORIES
All of these characteristics help to define each
talent. They give the drama more authenticity
and help the performers act their parts
convincingly. It serves as a means of
presenting the regional or playwright's world
SPECTACLE
This element helps in making the
play more visually pleasing. This
element is also useful in letting the
audience have a more defined
sensory experience.
DIFFERENT ROLES IN PLAY
     PRODUCTION
    PRODUCER
gives the project financial support or asks
investors to provide funding, hires the
creative crew, such as the director,
authors, choreographer, and composer.
Although casting actors is the director's
responsibility, a producer has the
authority to approve casting.
  DIRECTOR
gives a performance its overall
direction and vision, ensuring that all
of its components are cohesive and
that production works smoothly. In
order to make a strong impression on
the audience, he or she makes sure
that every element is executed
flawlessly and that everyone in the
    PLAYWRIGHT
The themes are developed by the
playwright, who then turns them into
written plays. The foundation of the entire
production is the screenplay. It includes
the narrative through conversation and
could also include descriptions of the
locations, sounds, mood, lighting,
costumes, and character makeup.
 PRODUCTION MANAGER
The production manager is in
charge of managing the
teams for the lighting,
costumes, sound, and set and
props. He or she oversees the
production's backstage
SET DESIGNER
He or she creates the set (or sets)
that will serve as the fictional world
of the play's characters and
oversees its construction. Although
the scenery and props may be
realistic, they could also be
designed in a minimalistic or
LIGHTING DESIGNER
The lighting designer plans
all these and adds detailed
notes on the script for the
lighting crew to follow
during rehearsals and the
actual performance.
COSTUME DESIGNER
The task of a costume designer is
to create the actors’ costumes or
outfits that are suitable to their
characters. The costume designer
looks into the time and setting of
the script to make the look of the
 SOUND DESIGNER
He or she is responsible in
incorporating sound effects
to create the right balance
of sound, the tempo, and
overall effect of the
production.
 TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
The technical director oversees
all the instructions relating to
lighting and sounds. During the
technical rehearsals, the technical
director notes all the cues, errors,
and other issues to iron them out
before the actual production.
   STAGE MANAGER
The stage manager oversees all
the director’s instructions- from
costumes to make up, and from
set to the actors and actresses.

 CHOREOGRAPHER
The dance moves that are appropriate
for the production's dance numbers
are the choreographer's responsibility.
If there are any fight sequences, he or
she will choreograph them in line with
the director's intentions and make
ensuring that everyone on set is safe.
 MAKEUP DESIGNER
To get the right look, the makeup artist
collaborates closely with the costume
designer. Based on their emotions,
age, personality, and the period and
place of the play's events, the makeup
artist creates realistic and convincing
looks for the players.
