An epidemic occurring over a very wide area, crossing international borders and usually affecting a large

number of people is known as a pandemic. The last time a pandemic occurred was in 2009, with the
outbreak of Swine Flu, which killed thousands of people. In December 2019, a Novel Coronavirus, known
as Covid 19, resulted in the outbreak of a respiratory illness. Since its discovery, the virus has spread
globally, causing thousands of deaths. It had a wide impact on the lives of people around the world. The
virus was first identified in an outbreak of the respiratory disease in Wuhan city of China. On January 30,
2020, the World Health Organization who declared Covid 19 a global health emergency, and as of March
11, 2020, it was officially an epidemic. The term Covid 19 is an abbreviated form, derived from “novel
Coronavirus disease 2019”.
Pandemics cause an increase in medicine and the health care industry. When a pandemic outbreak occurs
are overflowing, and researchers are hard at work searching for a cure . Doctors stated they were too busy
trying to fight the disease to record the overflow of patients. Drug stores businesses increased during the Flu
while other businesses were failing. Hospitals were so overcrowded that other buildings had to be converted
into hospitals. Although the health care industry was booming it suffered shortages of workers just like
other industries, when the physicians themselves contracted the flu. Due to the shortage of physicians some
hospitals were staffed with medical school students. And realizing that covid-19 was not part of our agenda
yet it affected everyone in every aspect of life. It brings a sorrowful state. Life starts to feel like the plot of a
movie whose setting you do not like. You long for small things you were used to, for you hope they can
bring a feeling of how life used to be when you had the opportunity to take control before being forced to
fight with an invisible enemy who is said to have the potential to change in form and capability, you sit and
wish that it was possible to bounce back to normal, before you sleep you pray for life, a state of living free
from virus. We have a chance to do something extraordinary.
As we head out of this pandemic we can change the world. Create a world of love. A world where we are
kind to each other. A world were we are kind no matter what class, race, sexual orientation, what religion or
lack of or what job we have. A world we don't judge those at the food bank because that may be us if things
were just slightly different. Let love and kindness be our roadmap. The world needs huge positive energy to
fight against the negative forces. Go to the center of your inner begin and generate that positive energy for
the welfare of the humanity. We are at a time in history where the smart will maintain a body chemistry that
is distinctly different from the masses. These so-called bleak times are necessary to go through in order to
get to a much, much better place. We can't allow everyone to do what they want or as they please, because
some of those people are not doing the right thing and others are not in the sane state of mind. Their actions
are the consequences everyone is suffering today. Center of your heart is the center of the Universe. Go to
that center and radiate positive vibration for the well-being of the humanity. If I could offer advice to any
family today, it would be to stick by your faith. Know that your God is with you and will take care of you
all the way through. Our lives were put on pause, many were forced to work from home, and we can
longer travel unless necessary. With this, we were given the power of stillness and the opportunity to
unapologetically slow down. There is no other situation other than an outbreak of a virus where our world
would come to such a pause. While this pandemic is turning out to be a very confusing and difficult time
for many people, it is undoubtedly giving humanity an incredibly rare opportunity to learn some
challenging lessons. I believe these lessons will trigger a much-needed change of perspective for how we
do things on this planet and will hopefully enable us to turn over a new leaf. For so long it felt that we had
been living in a way that went against everything that is natural and sacred .We had been living in a way
that neither serves humans nor the natural world, and yet we continued on this path seemingly powerless
to stop what we were doing. Probably the most difficult part of this journey for most people is being
separated from their friends, family, and maybe even a romantic partner. I once heard someone say that
“connection is something that all humans need, but we are just not very good at it. Who here feels that
maybe they took human interaction for granted before this? I will raise my hand to that. Connection is
something that is so critical for our emotional and mental well-being, yet it something we often take for
granted. After this is over, I think people will reach out to each other like never before and everyone will
be so overjoyed to see their loved ones again. And just maybe we might be a little bolder and share our
smiles and greetings with those we don’t even know. Health is something we so easily take for granted
until it is at risk. The possibility of our health taking a downturn has made many of us pay more attention
to our nutrition intake and cleanliness. Some of us have even been taking preventative health measures
and steps to boost our immune system. If we have a working body with no serious physical ailments, we
should be beyond grateful. I think everyone is wondering what exactly will come out of this crisis and
whether we will really change our ways. Will we learn the lessons or go back to the way we were before
our unhealthy normality? This is yet to be seen. However, as individuals we can make our own choices,
and it is our individual choice that will make all the difference. Let us learn from this situation and do
what we can to preserve nature, to bring more stillness into our lives, and to never take people or our
health and safety for granted again. As always, individual change and transformation will always triumph.
As a student, if I were to address the people in these times of pandemic, I greatly encourage everyone to
pray and do your part. This pandemic is a huge challenge that can only be successfully surpassed with the
guidance of the Above. We need to ask God to heal our land for none can do it without Him. Also, as we
pray, it is important to do our part as well. We cannot keep on praying but keep on going out as well even
for non-essential purposes. We cannot keep on praying while not observing proper hygiene. We cannot
keep on praying but not follow simple protocols and instructions from the authorities.
Despite its devastating impacts, the Covid-19 crisis has provided us with an opening to reset and to
reshape our society and our economy for the better. Nothing would be worse than going back to what we
had come to expect as normal. We need universal and permanent changes: universal and free child care;
fee-free higher education; a social safety net that doesn't leave anyone behind; a housing system that
ensures a secure home for everyone; an economy that values the spirit of our community and puts people
before profit; and a society where everyone has the opportunity to engage in fulfilling and secure work
with good wages, where care and community work is valued, where rampant profit-making and endless
growth are faint memories and the true measures of a good society are our wellbeing and how we care for
each other, our country and our planet.
The virus knows no status, no religion, no ethnicity. Under this, we are all equal, we are all just human;
fragile and mortal little creatures. When faced with a pandemic, we get to see the meaninglessness of so
many things in our lives. The superficial fancy clothes and expensive cars, what does that give you,
ultimately? How much importance does that have right now? Or the planning and planning and saving for
later when what if there is no later? The working in jobs we hate, with people who infuriate us because
we’re too afraid of change, or too afraid to fail? It is a highly stressful and volatile time, there is no doubt
about that. I am not going to sit here and tell you how you need to remain positive and grateful and blah
blah blah. Feel whatever you feel, allow it to run its course. It’s absolutely normal to feel powerless and
afraid, and you are certainly not alone. In fact, you could not be less alone in your state of mind right
about now.
Imagine the creativity that will emerge during this time of quarantine? Imagine the art, the songs, the
writing, the stories, the incredible ingenuity that will be born from this time? We are resilient beings and
our minds can run far and wide. We might feel the fear and anxiety, but we can also feel creativity and
compassion. This is a time for humans to reanalyse the world we live in. To take a break from the rat race
that is society and find something authentic and true within ourselves.
The story of humanity will not end with us being annihilated by the coronavirus, we will overcome. But
maybe, and hopefully, what will die out is an old stale form of society. Perhaps this is an opportunity for
humankind to make a more sustainable world, not only for the planet but for us humans too. Maybe it’s a
sneak peak of a world where we’re not just another cog in the wheel of a giant corporate machine, but a
place where we can bring our true humanity, our innate gifts. This virus has forced to reconsider
everything, and the leaders of our worlds are struggling to handle it all. This is precisely where change
happens.
Every day is a new day and in today’s world, we cannot predict what will happen in an hour, let aone
tomorrow. Now is the time to rest and incubate your mind, allowing it to bask in its own creative juices.
It’s a time of unprecedented change. Allow that resilience and creativity that is innate in you to spread.
Naturally, governments need to find ways to address the continued learning of students amidst the
pandemic. However, because of the rapid spread of the disease, face-to-face learning is highly unlike, not
to mention, deadly. This leaves us to think of alternatives to education. The first thing that would come to
mind is utilizing e-learning in the advent of newer more accessible technology. But, not every student has
access to device that could be used for remote learning. This is where the problem lies. If the coronavirus
crisis had yet to be solved, regular schooling would once again be delayed. Although, if the situation had
become lighter, schools may consider imposing social distancing protocols in schools. Along with this,
countermeasures need to be placed such as temperature scanners and proper hygiene practices. Most
importantly, the pandemic forces educational institutions to become more adaptive. This could include
giving e-books for studying so that even with just a phone, students could continue to learn. Tests should
also be a measure of how much one has learned rather than how much has been memorized.
