academia and the industry. It has been focusing its academic and research activities on various
aspects of science, technology and industry, occupying a unique position not only in India, but also
abroad. It has substantially contributed to the development of Science, Engineering and Mineral
sector through its in-house state-of-the-art facilities for advanced studies and research.

1.1. Location
IIT(ISM) is located in the city of Dhanbad, the coal capital of India,
which is at the heart of major Indian coalfields, in the state of
Jharkhand. One can reach Dhanbad by rail and road. It is 260 km
from Kolkata and 160 km from Ranchi. Nearby airports are in
Kolkata, Durgapur and Ranchi. Deluxe and Express buses run
regularly from Kolkata, Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Bokaro to
Dhanbad. IIT(ISM) campus is just 3 KM away from Dhanbad
railway station where taxis and autos operate round the clock.

1.2. Academic facilities at the Institute


Ÿ Library: Institue's Central Library is one of Asia's biggest libraries and contains a huge
database of books and research papers.
Ÿ Computer Lab: Institute multiple computer laboratories, each containing updated computer
hardware and software.
Ÿ Databases: Institute subscribes to several databases, such as Bloomberg terminals for financial
data, for use by faculty and students.

1.3. The Department


Department of Management Studies & Industrial Engineering, was established in 1977 and was
offering M. Tech program in Industrial Engineering and Management (IE&M) as well as Ph.D.
Keeping pace with the changing times, the MBA program was launched in 1997 and MBA in
Business Analytics in 2020.
Department has glorious legacy of more than four decades has seen its rise from strength,
continuously evolving and reinventing itself in tandem with changing business and industrial
environment of the country. Along with the routine classroom lectures, students of the
department take active part in presentations, seminars, workshops etc. Students of MBA,

MBA(BA) and M.Tech (IEM) programme undergo compulsory organizational internship to obtain
hands on experience.
The department is having state of the art classrooms with latest audiovisual facilities, along with
equipped laboratories like Systems Lab, Psychology Lab, Work Study Ergonomics Lab, and
Business Communication Lab. In addition, we have leading databases like Bloomberg, CMIE
Prowess database and advanced statistical softwares like SPSS with AMOS Smart PLS module,
STATA, MATLAB, R, Python, etc.
The department draws its faculty from leading educational institutes of the country who are
actively engaged in consultancy assingnments, in-house and off-campus executive development
programs and research projects. Some of the organisations / institutions that have supported
faculty initiatives are AICTE, UGC, ICSSR, MHRD, DGMS, CMPFO, NHPC, Power Grid, CIMFR, CIL,
The World Bank, Capgemini, HAL, DSIR, DST and TATA Power. For details, you may visit

2. MBA PROGRAMMES
The aim of the programmes is to train the students in high level of knowledge enabling them to
tackle practical complex problems in industrial fields as well as to excel in further higher
education through research. Enough flexibility is provided in the structure of the programme in
respect of lecture courses, laboratory and project work to help the students to achieve their goal.
The Department is equipped with sufficient facilities for this purpose. IIT(ISM) offers admission in
MBA and MBA (BA) for candidates having a valid CAT 2024 score.

This brochure is not for Foreign / NRI / PIO candidates, they are requested to see the institute
website on 'Foreign Students' under 'IR(International Relation)' and they may contact Dean
(International Relations)

3. ELIGIBILITY
3.1. Eligibility criteria of Candidates for MBA Programme
¢ Graduates (or professional qualification equivalent to that of a University degree recognized
by the UGC) in any discipline with first class or having 60% marks or CGPA of 6.0 out of 10
[55% marks or CGPA of 5.5 for SC/ST/PwD (Differently Abled Categories)] in their degree
from a recognized University.
¢ Final year students (for the above-mentioned program) are also eligible to apply. Such
candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally, on the condition that they meet all the
requirements for the qualifying degree before start of the program and will produce
provisional certificate of completion of the program latest by September 30, 2025.
¢ All applicants should have a valid CAT-2024 score.

3.2. Eligibility criteria of Candidates for MBA in Business Analytics Programme


¢ Candidates with B.Tech/BE degree in any discipline from a recognized university/institute
with at least 60% marks in aggregate or 6.0 out of 10 CGPA [55% marks in aggregate or 5.5
CGPA out of 10 in case of candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwD (Differently Abled
Categories)] will be eligible for the programme.
¢ Final year students (for the above-mentioned program) are also eligible to apply. Such
candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally, on the condition that they meet all the
requirements for the qualifying degree before start of the program and will produce
provisional certificate of completion of the program latest by September 30, 2025.
¢ All applicants should have a valid CAT-2024 score.

Shortlist for interview process will be announced by the Admission Cell (PG- Ph. D.). Only those who are shortlisted
will be invited to the interview process (Personal Interview) through their registered email.

3.3. Reservation of seats


¢ Reservation for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/PwD/EWS candidates will be as per
Government of India rules.
¢ Forms of OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Certificate given in Annexure I must be produced by OBC
(Non-Creamy Layer) candidates in the format for 'Admission to Central Educational
Institutions (CEIS) under the Government of India' and should be issued on or after April 01,
2024.
¢ Parental Income Certificate for EWS cateogory (given in Annexure II) must be produced by
candidate in the format for 'Admission to Central Educational Institutions (CEIS) under the
Government of India', should be valid, and issued on or after April 01, 2024.

4. PROGRAMME FEE*
The existing structure of the Semester fees is given below. A candidate will be required to deposit
the first semester fee including the Admission Fee, when the candidate, finally accepts the
admission:

5. SHORTLISTING & SELECTION PROCEDURE


The shortlisting of candidates to MBA programmes will be decided by taking into consideration
of CAT percentile of the candidate.

FINAL SELECTION PROCEDURE


The final selection of candidates to MBA programmes will be decided by taking into
consideration the following five dimensions of the candidate's performance
¢ Personal Interview (40 percent)
¢ CAT Percentile ( 35 percent)
¢ Past academic records (10 percent)
¢ Industrial Experience (10 percent)
¢ Female Candidate (5 Percent)

6. ADMISSION APPLICATION PROCEDURE


¢ Online application form is required to be submitted through online portal, which will remain
available on the IIT(ISM) website www.iitism.ac.in from Next Day of CAT Results to January 31,
2025.
¢ For instructions to fill up the online application for MBA Admission, please visit the link
https://admissions.iitism.ac.in/mba/index.php/admission
¢ Non-refundable application fee for each programme for CAT candidates is Rs. 1600/- for
UR/EWS/OBC candidates and Rs. 800/- for SC/ST/PwD candidates. The application fee needs
to be paid through online payment gateway only along with the online application.
¢ It is the responsibility of the candidate, to ensure that he/she satisfies all eligibility criteria
for a particular programme, as mentioned in this information brochure, and submit complete
and correct information in the Institute admission portal accordingly.
¢ Eligibility Criteria of MBA Programme: Graduates (or professional qualification equivalent
to that of a University degree recognized by the UGC) in any discipline with first class or
having 60% marks or CGPA of 6.0 out of 10 (55% marks or CGPA of 5.5 for SC/ST/PwD
[Differently Abled Categories]) in their degree from a recognized University.
¢ Eligibility Criteria of MBA in Business Analytics Programme: Candidates with B. Tech/BE
degree in any discipline from a recognized university/institute with at least 60% marks in
aggregate or 6.0 out of 10 CGPA [55% marks in aggregate or 5.5 CGPA out of 10 in case of
candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwD (Differently Abled Categories) will be eligible for the
programme.

Documents required while applying for MBA programs and interview


¢ Image files of your recent passport size photograph and signature. Your Photo and Signature
should be maximum 50KB and in png or jpeg format only.
¢ Proof for Date of Birth (10th Marksheet or Any Govt.-approved document).
¢ Marksheet of Class 10 and 12.
¢ Qualifying degree marksheet of final semester / final year (7th semester / pre-final year
marks-sheet for the 'appearing candidates' whose final semester / final year results are
pending).
¢ Valid CAT score card as indicated in the application form.
¢ Caste certificate/EWS income certificate to avail seat reservation under respective reserved
category. (The OBC (NCL) certificate as per Annexure I & II issued on or after April 01, 2024).
¢ Persons with Disability (PwD) are required to upload a certificate of disability from the
authorized medical board attached to one of the following - Vocational Rehabilitation Centre
(VRC) for Physically Handicapped persons/ Government Hospital (District and State level).
¢ Valid proof of industrial experience in months if applicable.
¢ All pdf documents should be of maximum 1MB size.

7. DOCUMENTS TO BE PRODUCED DURING PHYSICAL REPORTING


¢ The candidate has to report in-person at IIT(ISM), Dhanbad on the scheduled date, time and
venue for completing his/her admission. If the candidate fails to report at the admission venue
in-person along with the requisite documents in original by that date and time, he/she will not
be considered afterwards for admission.
¢ In addition to original copy of above mentioned documents following original documents
must be produced by the candidate at the time of reporting to IIT (ISM) to complete his/her
Admission:
¢ Copy of the online application form
¢ All relevant certificates (to be produced in original at the time of admission to the program)
related to academic qualification (i.e., X, XII, Graduation, etc), date of birth proof and fee
receipt of the program fee.
¢ Original CAT 2024 Score Card and Admit Card.
¢ Migration certificate and/ or College Leaving Certificate issued by the University, original.
¢ One set of self-attested photocopies of all certificates.
¢ Four copies each of passport and stamp size photographs (same copy as was affixed on the
application form).
¢ Caste certificate from appropriate issuing authority in prescribed format for SC/ST/OBC (Non
Creamy Layer) candidates/EWS (Economically Weaker section); certificates from the respective
Record Office/Army Headquarters (Adjutant General's Branch) for Defence Personnel (DP)
candidates in original as applicable.
¢ PwD must bring the Original Certificate in prescribed format issued by the Chief Medical
Officer or equivalent of a government hospital if applicable.
¢ The OBC (Non Creamy Layer) candidates will be required to submit OBC (Non Creamy Layer)
certificate as prescribed format as applicable for admission to Central Educational Institutions
(CEIs) under Government of India (Annexure-II attached) and should be issued by the officer
not below the rank of District Magistrate/ Deputy Commissioner/ Competent Authority as
indicated in the format attached. OBC (Non-Creamy) certificate must be issued by the
Competent Authority as per the attached format issued on or after April 01, 2024.
¢ The documents of the candidates will be verified by IIT(ISM) officials. Admission of only those
candidates, whose documents are found in order and verified as satisfactory, will be confirmed.
¢ All other formalities related to identity card, hostel and bank account, etc. will be completed
subsequently by the candidate.

7.1. MEDICAL FITNESS


Candidates must be in good health. A candidate is required to submit a medical certificate (as per
Annexure III) at the time of reporting at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad signed by the chief medical officer
(CMO) or equivalent of a government hospital.

7.2. WITHDRAWAL OF ADMISSION


Withdrawal and refund of admission fee:
Candidate may withdraw his/her provisional admission by sending a request to AR (Admissions)
at aradm@iitism.ac.in by e-mail from the registered email ID of the candidate.
¢ a) If a candidate withdraws the offer of admission within five days after the last date of
admission for the round in which he/she was admitted, the entire fee collected from the
candidate will be refunded after a deduction of processing fee of Rs. 2000/- (For example: If
payment duration is May 20 to 24, 2025 and a candidate apply for withdrawal on or before May 29, 2025
then he/she will be refunded entire amount after deduction of processing fee of Rs. 2000/-).

¢ b) If a candidate withdraws the offer of admission after five days from the last date of
admission for the round in which she/he was admitted, she/he will be refunded only the
caution money and advance hostel mess fee. (For example: If payment duration is May 20 to 24, 2025
and a candidate apply for withdrawal after May 29, 2025 then she/he will be refunded the advance hostel
mess fee + caution money only).

8. OTHER IMPORTANT POINTS


¢ In the event of any information being found false or incorrect or incomplete or non-eligibility
being detected at any time before or after admission, his/her candidature is liable for
rejection without further communication.
¢ An applicant once admitted in a particular postgraduate programme will not be allowed to
shift to any other programme, even if seats remain available in other courses.
¢ Students are required to observe prescribed Rules & Regulations and orders issued by the
IIT(ISM) authorities from time to time.

9. TERMS AND CONDITIONS


No Warranty

Limitation of Liability
In no event, IIT (ISM) will be liable for any damages, including without limitation, direct or
indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages, losses, or expenses arising in connection
with this site or use thereof or inability to use by any persons, or in connection with any failure of
performance, error, omission, interruption, defect, delay of operation or transmission, computer
virus or line or system failure, even if IIT (ISM) or any representative thereof is advised of the
possibility of such damages, losses or expenses.

Network Services
The IIT(ISM) MBA Admission Committee 2025 cannot be held responsible for reduced access
speed due to bandwidth overload especially close to the deadlines of any online activity.

Jurisdiction
In case any claim or dispute arises in respect of MBA admission, it is hereby made absolutely clear
that the Courts at Dhanbad and Dhanbad alone shall have the exclusive jurisdiction to entertain
and settle any such dispute or claim.

¢ Any email communication should be addressed with full identification of the candidate, i.e.,
name, email, mobile, Programme name(s), category, CAT and other identifying codes given
by IIT(ISM) (such as registration number, application number etc.). For electronic
communication the candidate should use the email/mobile registered in the online
application only. Before asking a query a candidate must go through this Information
Brochure/ instructions in the online portal properly.

¢ For withdrawal purpose, a candidate must follow the guidelines as indicated in 7.2 of this
brochure.

¢ IIT(ISM) Dhanbad will not issue any letter by post to any candidate regarding any admission
related activity. The candidate must visit the institute website (www.iitism.ac.in) & check their
registered email regularly in this regard for any update / instruction / result / announcement.
