1) What is something new that you learned about your family through this
interview? Did it surprise you?
2) What information did you find meaningful or inspiring? Why do you

Slide #11
List 3 physical resources you saw in the video that helped Ms. Hall find out more about her
family history.
Slide #12
1) What about you? Using the examples listed in the blue box on the slide 11, find 1 physical
resource that is proof of an event that can be included in your family tree. What resource
did you find?
2) Where did you find it and how would you use it to build your family tree?
3) Do you think your resource would be important to future generations of your family? Why?
One of the best ways you can find information about your family history is by using a digital
genealogical resource! A digital resource is an electronic format of a physical resource (birth
certificate, census, photograph, death certificate, newspaper clipping, etc). Once a physical
resource has been “digitized“ it makes it available to everyone! Name 3 places or websites
where you can find digital genealogical resources on such things as marriage records, census
records, birth records, and burial information.

Slide #24
1) Now that you have begun putting together your family tree, did you learn anything new about
your family? Did anything surprise you?
2) I, your MBC, plan to continue genealogical work on my family history. I hope you have been
bitten by the genealogy bug, too! Not only will you uncover amazing stories about your
family’s past, but the information you provide will be valuable to your descendants for
generations to come. Why do you think building your family history now will be so important
to your descendants later?
