SCRIPT: Digital Privacy –

Good afternoon everyone, today we are here to enlighten everyone here on the topic- Digital
Privacy

1. Icebreaker – Engaging the Audience

Before we start, let me ask you—, how many of you read the privacy policy before installing an
app?"

"Ahh, exactly! We click ‘Agree & Continue’ faster than anything.

Well I hope everyone is familiar with a genz chatting app, that is Instagram.

"Imagine this—you and your friend are casually talking about a trip to Goa. You don’t type it, you
don’t search for it, just a casual chat. And then, BOOM! The next moment, Instagram starts
showing you flight tickets, hotel deals, and ‘Top 10 Things to Do in Goa’ posts."

"And that’s when you wonder—Is my phone listening to me? Is Mark Zuckerberg sitting with
popcorn, enjoying my conversations?"

"Well, not exactly! But your data—your location, browsing history, and even microphone
access—is constantly being tracked and used to predict what you want. This is the dark side of
digital privacy."

W e want to provide the awareness so i want to tell about some international as well as
indain perspective for the digital privacy rules – to Aware to about the topic concern-

• The European Union: "The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation),2018 is like
the superhero of privacy laws—strict, powerful, and actually gives people control over
their own data. If companies don’t follow it, they can be fined up to 4% of their revenue.
That’s not pocket change, my friends!"

• The Right to Know – "Under GDPR, companies must tell you what data they’re
collecting and why."

hold companies and governments accountable!"

privacy, that is the Landmark Case – K. S. Puttaswamy vs. Union of India (2017)

Supreme Court disagreed!"

The digital protection helpline number in India is 1930. This is the

7. Conclusion – Closing with a Thought

"So, the next time you install an app and it asks for permission to access your contacts,
camera, microphone or even location, STOP and think: Do they really need it?!"

"Digital privacy isn’t about hiding secrets; it’s about controlling what we share and with whom.

"With strong laws like GDPR, CCPA, and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, we are
moving towards a world where privacy is protected, not exploited. But laws alone are not
enough—awareness is key!" Let’s be responsible digital citizens!"

"Thank you, and may your data stay safe!"
