Daisy’s Nine Square Crochet Along 2019

Part 12 – Corners

Time to finish this off with some granny stitch corner rectangles and a few rounds all the way around
to bring it all together.

Make 4 rectangles, it’s entirely up to you if you want to do it in one colour or striped.

ch13
1. dc2 in the 4th chain from the hook (end), ch3 (corner), dc3 into the same st, skip 2 sts, *dc3
in next st, skip 2 sts* repeat one more time, dc3 in next st, ch3 (corner), dc3 into the same st
(end), ch3 (corner), dc3 into the same st again, then work down the other side of the ch, skip
2 sts, *dc3 in next st, skip 2 sts* repeat one more time, dc3 in the next st, ch3 (corner), slst
into the 3rd ch of beginning ch13.

group from previous row to the corner, (dc3 ch3 dc3), repeat around for the corners and
sides, slst into the 3rd ch of beginning ch3

Rounds 3 – 6: Repeat Round 2 (until you have 6 dc3 groups on the short sides and 9 dc3 groups
on the long sides), slst into the 3rd ch of beginning ch3, fasten off (18 sts short sides, 27 sts long

These rectangles fit in the four corners that remain unfinished. The long side is joined to the side of
your Part 10 squares. With good sides together join through both back loops with a sc, when you
get to the corner: sc through the corner space into the corner of that main square, then flip down the
rectangle and the Part 10 row and work the short edge along the Part 11 hexagon border, again
through both back loops with a sc.

To hold it all together and give a clean edge we are going to go all the way around the blanket at
least four times

Round 1 – dc in each stitch around, (dc2 ch2 dc2) into the corners
Round 2 – hdc in each stitch around, (hdc2 ch2 hdc2) into the corners
Round 3 – bpdc around each stitch, (dc2 ch2 dc2) into the corners
Round 4 – sc in each stitch around (sc2 ch2 sc2) into the corners

You can do more rounds if you would like to, but the blanket is quite a beast to manage now as is.
