Daisy’s Nine Square Crochet Along 2019
Square 9 - Shells
This is our last big square and we are working from the centre out. I have done mine with a set
colour for the odd rows, but you could mix this up and see what patterns you can make
1. ch2, *dc1, ch1* into 2nd ch from hook, repeat 7 times or make a magic loop and work ch4
(1st dc + ch1), *dc1, ch1* into the loop, repeat 7 times, tighten the loop, slst into the 1 st dc or
the 3rd ch of the beginning ch4 (8 dc, 8 ch-sps)
(you can carry this background colour up behind the even rows by switching to the next
colour when you have the last two loops on your hook)

3. Starting in a sc, ch4 (counts as dc + ch1), dc1, ch3, dc1, ch1, dc1 into the same stitch,

Rounds 7 – 24 - Repeat Rounds 5 and 6 until you have 24 rounds in total
Round 25 - Complete another Round 5, in place of working a ch5 – work (ch2, sc into the 4th dc of
previous row, ch2)
Round 26 – Starting in any corner ch3sp, ch2 (counts as hdc), hdc, ch2, hdc2, [*hdc2 into ch1sp,

Round 27 – Starting in any corner ch-sp, ch2 (counts as hdc), hdc2, ch2, hdc3, *hdc to corner ch-
sp, corner (hdc3, ch2, hdc3)*, repeat from * to * around to end, omitting last corner, slst into 2 nd ch

You now have nine large squares and its time to join them together in 3 rows of 3 squares, then
join the panels of those 3 rows of 3 together. With right (or good) sides facing, work a sc through
both loops of every stitch, sc into the corners also.
