 East China Normal University (ECNU) plays a crucial role in the professional research of
 international Chinese language education in China and in the training of Chinese language
 teachers at home and abroad. It places an emphasis on Chinese Language training for students
 and makes timely adjustments according to the needs and characteristics of students from

April Class
The April Class Program is designed for students who plan to enroll in April. Students will
 e placed into classes of di erent levels of t e Standard inese an ua e ro ra         ased
on placement test results. The curriculum and weekly class schedule are the same as the
Standard Chinese Language Program except for the enrollment date.
      II. Intensive Chinese Language Program

                                   Visa & Residence Permit
  The students must enter China with a valid passport and student visa (X1 or X2 visa). Please
  apply for the student visa (X1 visa: the duration of study is half a year or more; X2 visa: the
  duration of study is within half a year) with the admission notice and visa application form
  (JW202 or JW201) through the Chinese embassy or consulate in your country. X1 visa is a student
  single entry clearance. Within 30 days after arriving in China you MUST complete all the
  procedures of registration at ECNU and apply to the Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration Bureau
  (SEEAB) for the residence permit, which is a multiple entry clearance. If you do not complete this

ECNU is equipped with clinical services:
The school clinic can only provide basic medical services for students. If you have a more serious and
complicated illness, don’t hesitate to go to the Sixth People's Hospital or Huashan Hospital, both are
near the school.
     IV. Students’ Activities
To help international students better integrate into life and study in ECNU, events are held regularly
by ISU (International Students Union) and ISCA (International Student Clubs Association) under the
instruction and supervision of International Students Office.
The ISU and ISCA consists of international students from all across the world, who are with various
interests and hobbies. ISU members aim at improving international students' academic skills and
enriching their extracurricular social and cultural activities. Currently ISU has 31 members and 4
departments, and they are Academic Department, Employment & Entrepreneurship Department,
Life Development Department and Overseas ISU. ISCA now has many clubs including International
Student Voluntary Service Team, Chinese Cultural Club, Badminton Club and Dancing Club and so
on.
