SOCIAL IMMERSION PROJECT
Project Title: "Innovating for Social Impact: Immersion Experience"
Project Overview: The "Innovating for Social Impact" project is designed to provide students with
hands-on experience working either with a social organization or independently on a social
innovation program/initiative dedicated to creating innovative solutions for disadvantaged
societies. Over the course of two weeks, students will collaborate closely with the organization's
team or on their own to identify challenges, devise innovative solutions, and implement strategies
aimed at making a positive difference in the targeted communities. Through this immersive project
experience, students will gain practical insights into the complexities of addressing social issues
and develop valuable skills in problem-solving, project management, and stakeholder engagement.
Project Objectives:
   1. Understand the social organization's/social program’s mission, target audience, and
      existing initiatives.
   2. Identify key challenges and opportunities within the target community through research,
      interviews, and data analysis.
   3. Brainstorm and develop innovative solutions to address identified challenges, considering
      feasibility, scalability, and sustainability.
   4. Collaborate with relevant social stakeholders to refine and prioritize solutions.
   5. Implement pilot projects or initiatives to test the feasibility and effectiveness of selected
      solutions.
   6. Evaluate the impact of implemented solutions through data collection, feedback from
      stakeholders, and performance metrics.
   7. Prepare a comprehensive report documenting the project process, outcomes, lessons
learned, and recommendations for future action.
Project Activities: Week 1:
   • Orientation: Students introduce the chosen social project explaining its mission and
       targeted impact.
   • Immersion: Students engage in field visits, interviews with community members, and data
collection to understand local context and challenges.
   • Ideation: Brainstorming sessions and workshops are facilitated to generate innovative ideas
       for addressing identified challenges.
   • Collaboration: Students work closely with relevant social stakeholders to refine and
prioritize potential solutions based on feasibility, impact, and alignment with set goals.
Week 2:
   • Implementation: Students collaborate with identified stakeholders to develop action plans
for implementing selected solutions, including resource allocation, timeline, and
       stakeholder engagement.
   • Pilot Testing: Pilot projects or initiatives are activated to test the feasibility and effectiveness
of selected solutions in real-world settings.
   • Monitoring and Evaluation: Students collect data, feedback, and performance metrics to
evaluate the impact of implemented solutions on targeted communities.
   • Report Preparation: Students compile project findings, insights, and recommendations into
a comprehensive report detailing the project process, outcomes, lessons learned, and
       future recommendations.
Deliverables:
   • Comprehensive Project Report: A detailed report documenting the project process,
outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations for future action.
   • Presentation: A formal presentation summarizing key findings, insights, and
recommendations for stakeholders is made to a chosen panel.
Assessment and Grading: Students will be assessed based on the quality and depth of their project
report, including the clarity of presentation, depth of analysis, effectiveness of solutions proposed,
and critical reflection on the project experience. Grades will also take into account the students'
contribution to institutional collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and the overall impact of their
work on the targeted communities.
Overall, the "Innovating for Social Impact" project offers ASOB students a unique opportunity to
apply their skills and knowledge in a real-world context, making meaningful contributions to social
innovation and positive change.
