Abstract

This study examined the awareness of criminology students at Gensantos

Foundation College, General Santos City, regarding cyberbullying, its forms, and its

psychological, behavioral, and physical effects. With the growing use of digital

platforms, cyberbullying has emerged as a major issue, particularly among young

people. The research aimed to assess students' knowledge of cyberbullying types,

such as harassment, impersonation, and social exclusion, as well as their

understanding of its impacts on victims. A descriptive research design was

employed, with data gathered from 30 criminology students through a self-

administered survey questionnaire. The findings revealed that while students were

aware of the various forms of cyberbullying and its psychological effects, they were

less confident in recognizing and addressing real-life cases. Additionally, there was

limited awareness of the physical consequences and legal frameworks related to

online harassment. The study highlighted gaps in knowledge and emphasized the

need for enhanced criminology curriculum.

Recommendations included updates to the curriculum, the inclusion of

practical training modules, and a stronger focus on intervention strategies, mental

health outcomes, and the legal aspects of cyberbullying. These improvements aim to

prepare future criminology professionals to effectively handle cyberbullying cases.
