Recount text merupakan suatu bentuk teks yang berisikan cerita atau urutan kejadian di

masa lampau (past tense). Isi cerita diambil dari pengalaman pribadi seseorang yang sudah
terjadi di masa lalu. Dengan membuat recount text berarti kita akan mengingat kembali
kejadian masa lalu dan menjadikannya kedalam bentuk cerita.

Contoh Recount Text dan Artinya
Sebelum membuat beberapa contoh recount text, Anda harus memahami terlebih dahulu
bahwa recount text memiliki struktur umumnya, yakni orientation, event dan re-orientation.

 Orientation, biasanya terletak di awal paragraf yang menceritakan latar, seperti waktu
dan tempat kejadian.
 Event, berisi tentang kejadian yang diceritakan secara berurutan berdasarkan waktunya.
 Re-orientation, berisi tentang penutup dari kejadian yang merupakan ringkasan dari
informasi sebelumnya.

1. Orientation

I spent my last summer holiday in Seoul, South Korea. I went there with my friends

On the first day, I was landed at Incheon Airport around 7 AM after a 6 hours long flight. Then I went to Seoul by
train and checked in to the hotel I already booked. I decided to take a rest for a while. At night, I went to Hongdae,
a famous district in South Korea. I went to eat traditional Korean food. On the next day, I went to the
Gyeongbokgung Palace and National Museum. I also went to learn how to make Kimchi and see the scenery of
Seoul from Seoul Tower. I went back to the hotel at 10 PM and immediately went to sleep.
Reorientation

I spent my last day in Myeongdong and bought some stuffs and souvenirs for my family and friends. I also ate the
street food there. I went to the airport at 3 PM because my flight was at 5 PM. I had a fantastic experience in
South Korea and made wonderful memory with my friends. It was a great trip.

2. Orientation

Last Wednesday was a tiring day. I spent my time to do a lot of activities, that I had no time to take a
rest.

Events

First, in the morning, I went cycling. After that I went to school to study until 3 pm. After school I went to
sport hall to play badminton until 8 pm. I played too seriously that I felt really tired. After that, I went
home. But when I wanted to sleep, I remembered there was some homeworks I had to do. I did my
homeworks until 11 pm. And finally I could take a rest in my bed.

Those activities made me exhausted.

4. Orientation

Last week was the first day I came late to school. I had never came late to school before

Holiday at home

Last thursday was my day off. I didn’t go anywhere. I just stay at home for two weeks to did
the same activities routinely, over and over again. I felt that was the worst day I have ever
passed.

I woke up earlier and did subuh prayer. After that, I had breakfast with my family in the
morning. At 08.00 am, I turned on computer and played many games. Not felt, it was 10.00
o’clock, I rushed to take a bath to freshen my body.

Then, I watched my favorite TV programs until it almost midday. At 01.00 pm, I went to
bathroom to ablution and immediately did zuhur prayer. Then, I had lunch and helped my
mother to clean the house.

Because I was tired, I felt asleep on the couch. Unexpectedly, after waking up I had a guest
who could cheer me up, my aunt came with her child. I kept playing with my nieces until
nightfall.

Although just a home holiday, at least to refresh my mind from the routine activities in the
office.
 Going to Cermin Beach

A few months ago, I went to Cermin beach with my family. It is located in Serdang Bedagai
district about 53 km from Medan city, North Sumatera. The trip there took about 1,5 hours.
We left from Medan at 07.30 using a car and we arrived about 09.00 o’clock.

Event (Isi)
As arrived there, my parents rented a hut to take a rest. I and my brother immediately ran
towards the beach. It looked sunny day with the blue sky and I felt a gentle breeze. The
waves there were suitable for swimming, but unfortunately I couldn’t swim. I just played with
white sand and built a sand castle. I didn’t forget to take a selfie with the background of
beautiful beach.

At noon, I began to feel hungry. I approached the rented hut. Apparently, my mother had
prepared food for us. I felt happy to be able to vacation with family and enjoyed the beauty of
nature created by God.

Not felt, the day had begun in the evening. We hurried to go home. Before went to home, I
bought some souvenirs there. Finally, we arrived at 6:00 PM because the trip was jammed.

Visiting Uncle’s House

The last semester vacation was an unexpected holiday. Because, I didn’t have any vacation
schedule. But, my father gave me a surprise. I was very happy and excited to visit my uncle
who had not met for two years.

I prepared everything needed to go on vacation. After that, dad invited me to go to the
terminal because we did left at 05.00 pm. The trip that must be taken to Panyabungan was
around 13 hours. Along the way, I saw such an amazing view from the bus window.

The next day, we arrived at 08.00 am. I didn’t expect them to gather to greet us.On the day, I
had to take a rest for freshen my body.

The second day there, I did taken by my uncle to go to the garden to harvest oranges. The
location of garden was not far from Uncle’s house. Arriving there, I was happy to be able to
pick oranges directly from the tree. The oranges that had been picked were sold and some
were for souvenirs.

The third day, I and uncle went to the river for take a bath. I did amazed to see the water
that was so clear. There, I found many people busy to washing and bathing.

The holiday was over, I had to go back to Medan to continue the routine activities. While
there, I got a lot of experience and visited family that I had never met before.

Although it was a short vacation, it was a memorable holiday for me. I got a lot of
experience there.

At that time, I was 17 years old. I asked my father to give me a gift which is a motorcycle.
However, my wish was rejected by my father because I was still an adult. Then, I asked my
father to teach me to ride a motorcycle. Initially, my father refused my request and promised
to teach me next year, but I sulked.

Finally, my father tought me to ride a motorcycle in a field near the house. Father gave
instructions on how to drive it. First, my father led me from behind and I was riding on my
father. Over time, I want to try it myself. I was happy and proud to be riding a motorcycle.

A few days later, I tried to ride a motorcycle on the narrow street of my house. I was nervous
when there was another motorcycle in front of me. Unexpectedly, my motorcycle hit the wall
which made me falled from the motorbike.

I was afraid of being scolded when I got home. But the reality, my father was very proud of
me. I was also given advice to be more calm in driving.

Last Wednesday, I was late for school. That’s because I played online games until 3:00 a.m.

At 5:30 a.m., my mom tried to wake me up. But, I ignored mother’s words and continued to
sleep again. Suddenly, I was jolted from my sleep and saw it was after 06:30. Without
thinking, I took a towel and immediately ran towards the bathroom. I saw breakfast that had
been served by my mother. But, I didn’t have time to have breakfast.

Usually, I go to school with my mother. But, mother had gone to the office before I woke up.
Finally, I went to school by public transportation.

It showed at 06.49, the public transportation that I wanted arrived. The trip to school took
about 8 minutes. Because it was busy, the streets began to jam and made my trip a longer
time.

I arrived at school at 7:10. While the class starts at 07.00. I ran to the classroom, but the
teacher didn’t let me in because it was past schedule.

Finally, I had to stand outside the classroom and lost one lesson. I was embarrassed and
promised not to repeat it again.
