DETAILED LESSON PLAN FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION

I- OBJECTIVE

At the end of the lesson student should be able to;


a. Define what is Philippine Folk Dance?
b. Identify the different basic step use in Folk Dance specially in feet and
arms position.
c. Execute the fundamental positions of feet and arms in folk dance.

II- SUBJECT MATTER


Topic: Fundamental position of feet and Arms in Philippine Folk Dance
Reference: Physical Education and Health Physical Education Book pp. 132-138
Materials: textbook, visual aids, speaker, Philippine flag, pictures

III- PROCEDURE

A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES

 Greetings
Good morning class! Good morning, Ma’am

Before anything else, kindly pick up the pieces of (students picking some pieces
papers under your chair and arrange your seats of paper)
properly.

 Prayer (students standing up)

C. MOTIVATION

Class before we proceed to our topic, I will show you


first a picture. I want you to observe it carefully and

the costume. What dance we usually wear this kind of

for today, Philippine Folkdance: Fundamental positions
of arms and feet.

D. PRESENTATION OF THE LESSON (students will raise their


hands)
What is folkdance? (one student will stand and
answer)
Any idea?

-the oldest form of dance and the earliest form of


communication.

-the traditional dance of a given country which evolved


naturally and spontaneously with everyday activities.

-it is handed down from generation to generation.

-it has a fixed movement in their pattern, but may differ


in various areas or provinces.

it may also divide into the:

Regional- are local dances that are specific to certain


tribes and regions.
National- national dances are common dances within a
country that reflects its culture, traditions and lifestyle.

Classification of folkdances in Philippines

Occupational- depicting action of certain occupation,


industry, or human labor.

Religious/Ceremonial Dance-performed in connection


with religious vows and ceremonies.

Comic dance- depicting funny movements for


entertainment.

Game dance- with play elements.

Wedding Dance- performed during wedding feast.

Courtship Dance- depicting love making.

Festival Dance- suitable for special occasion or any


social gatherings.

War Dance- showing imaginary combat or duel.

So based on the nature and


background of Folk dance what did

So, we proceed on the basic position


on feet and arms in Folk Dance,

Fundamental positions of feet and


arms, have 5 positions that we are
going to execute after the discussion.

So, in Feet Position (students are listening)

1st: heels together, toes apart with an angle of 45


degrees.

2nd: astride sideward of about pace or 1 foot distance.

3rd: heels of one foot close to the


In-step of the other foot.

4th: one foot in front of the other about a pace distance.

5th: heel of front close to the big toe of the rear foot.

Now we proceed in arms Position.

Arm Positions

1st: Encircle both arms in front of chest with the finger


tips about an inch apart.

2nd: both arms raised sideward with a graceful curve.

3rd: one arm is raised above your head, while the other
arm maintains the second position. The arm that was
raised should be slightly curved as well.

4th: one arm in a half circle in front of another arm


raised overhead.

5th: both hands raised overhead.

So, we are done in all positions in


hand and feet. Any question class?

E. APPLICATION

Since now you know all the


Position, we are going to execute it. (students standing up)
Please Stand up.

We are going to perform the feet position (feet position
1st to 5th)

Arms position (1st to 5th)

And now with music.

And now we are going to perform both arms and feet

F. DEEPINING / GENERALIZATION

So, what did you feel while we perform those position? Student: I feel like dancing

How does these 5 fundamental positions help in


performing Folk dance?
Student: (answering)
Yes, Ronel.

That’s right! It increases muscle memory to execute an


accurate, clean and not dangerous jump. It helps the
dancer to create a better connection between steps in
the center or while performing on stage.

Do we need to learn the fundamental dance position of


arms and feet? Why?

Yes! It serves as exercise for beginners, it also helps


practice timing and coordination in dance and this
technique is used in different kind of genre.

G. EVALUATION

Group yourselves into 5 and perform the 5 fundamental


skills in arms and feet. (students are grouping)
