1. SCOPE
This Quality Control Plan (QCP) defines the inspection, verification, and
compliance requirements for the manufacturing of Torsion Bar, Suspension (PN:
12298917-6L). This plan ensures adherence to MIL-S-45387, MIL-STD-1916, ITAR
regulations, and Lockheed Martin's Quality Assurance Requirements (QAR).

2. QUALITY OBJECTIVES

• Ensure dimensional accuracy of spline, threads, and overall geometry.

• Maintain surface integrity through heat treatment, shot peening, and


coating.

• Validate torsional strength, hardness, and material properties.

• Meet 100% compliance with inspection and acceptance standards as

6. SPECIAL QUALITY REQUIREMENTS

6.1 First Article Inspection (FAI)

• 3 initial parts from the first production batch will be fully inspected
per AS9102 FAI standards.

• All material certifications, process sheets, and inspection records


will be submitted to Lockheed Martin’s Quality Assurance team for
review.

6.2 100% Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)

• All torsion bars must pass MPI per MIL-M-11472.

• Any part showing cracks, inclusions, or defects will be rejected.

6.3 Torque & Strength Testing

• Each batch will undergo torsional shear testing to ensure compliance


with MIL-S-45387.

• If any part fails, the entire batch is subject to re-evaluation.

6.4 Marking & Traceability

• Parts will be permanently marked per MIL-STD-130 with:

o Part Number

o Manufacturer ID

o Lot Number

o Date Code
7. DOCUMENTATION & RECORD RETENTION

• All inspection and material records will be retained for 10 years.

• Digital and hard copy records will be maintained for auditing and
traceability.

8. NON-CONFORMANCE HANDLING

• Any non-conforming part will be logged via Corrective Action Report


(CAR).

• Root Cause Analysis (RCA) will be performed, followed by corrective


actions.

• Non-conforming parts will either:

o Be reworked if possible.

o Be scrapped if unrepairable.

9. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

• Quarterly reviews of manufacturing and inspection data.

• Process adjustments based on historical rejection rates.

• Supplier quality monitoring for raw material consistency.
