Objectives of the lesson: By the end of the lesson, students will be able
to:
-match sentences with pictures illustrating dangerous situations
-complete gapped sentences using must, mustn’t and don’t
-listen and compare sounds in pair of words
-listen and complete gapped sentences with the dictated words
-make sentences expressing obligation, prohibition and warning
-complete a table with the things that we must or mustn’t do at school
-discuss more examples of safety rules at school

Procedure:
Pre-writing stage
I will start the lesson by showing a picture of a boy receiving a present on
his birthday and the present is fireworks. Then I will ask them “Is this
safe?”
Next, I will ask them about the different kinds of dangerous objects that
children must keep away from
Act1: I will ask Ss to match sentences with pictures illustrating different
kinds of dangers.
Then, I will ask them to study the new structures and deduce the rule of
how to express obligation and prohibition
While-writing stage
Act2: Ss will be asked to complete gapped sentences using must, mustn’t
and don’t
Besides, this activity aims at practicing the newly acquired language
structures
Next, I will ask them to read a set of words in chorus and then I will choose
random students to repeat the words out loud.
Then, I will ask them to use the words in sentences
Post-reading:
Act3: I will have Ss look at visuals and make sentences which express
obligation, prohibition. Each time, I will call a student to the board and ask
him/her to write their sentence on the board
Act4: I will ask Ss to turn to their activity books and work on act 2 page 51
in which they classify actions into those we must and those we mustn’t do
at school and then I will ask them to provide more examples of safety
rules at school and we will write them down on the board. Finally, I will ask
them to take notes.
