Lesson Plan: Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Warm-Up Activity (10 minutes) – "Spot the Mistake"
• Display a short biography passage with errors in sentence structure,
punctuation, and word choice.
• Example (with mistakes):
"Marie Curie was a scientist. She discover radiation and won two
Nobel Prizes. Her work was very important it helped people
understand radioactivity."
• Ask students: What mistakes do you see? How can we fix them?
• Class Brainstorming: Rewrite the passage together.
2. Mini-Lesson (15 minutes) – The Editing Process
• Write on the board:
✍ Editing vs. Revising
o Editing = Fixing mistakes (spelling, punctuation, grammar)
o Revising = Improving ideas (word choice, clarity, transitions)
• Introduce the Biography Editing Checklist:
Content & Organization: Is the introduction engaging? Are events in
order?
Sentence Fluency: Are sentences clear and varied?
Grammar & Punctuation: Are there any spelling or punctuation errors?
Word Choice: Are words powerful and precise?
Transitions: Are paragraphs connected smoothly?
• Demonstration: Edit a short passage step by step as a class.
3. Peer Review Activity (20 minutes) – "Two Stars & a Wish"
1️⃣ Pair students up and exchange biographies.
2️⃣ Peer Feedback Process:
• Read the biography silently.
