Overall plan: more organized – separate parking spaces + roundabouts;

more parking space

Body plan:
B1 – 2007
B2 – 2010

The pictures describe changes that took place in the surrounding area
of some city hospital between 2007 and 2010.

The main change described seems to have been the fact that the
parking space in 2010 looks more organized as visitors and workers
have/had separate car parks. It should also be noted that buses in 2010
were granted separate stops and were no longer located near the car
parks. Another interesting change was the addition of roundabouts
which seemingly made traffic around the area smoother as well as
safer.

In both years the city hospital could only be accessed through Hospital
Road located in its southernmost part. In addition, there were 6 bus
stops on either side of Hospital road, 3 to the west and another 3 to the
east. The latter was adjacent to a car park designated to both the public
and medical staff.

However, there were significant changes made to the stops and car
park after three years. In 2010, buses had their own stops as all the bus
stops were relocated to the west of Hospital Road. The location of the
car park for the hospital staff members remained unchanged and was
expanded because in 2010 all the area on the eastern side of Hospital
Road now belonged exclusively to the staff of City Hospital. Meanwhile,
the public in 2010 had to travel a slightly longer distance as their
parking lots were relocated to the easternmost section of the hospital.

The part where Hospital Road and City Road used to cross in 2007
were/was turned into a roundabout and the same happened to the
juncture of Hospital Road and Ring Road which also was converted into
another roundabout.

Between 2007 and 2010, noticeable changes occurred in the vicinity of

the city hospital. The primary transformation involved a more
organized parking space, with separate areas for visitors and hospital
workers. Moreover, buses were assigned separate stops away from the
car parks, enhancing overall traffic flow and safety.

During both years, access to the city hospital was restricted to Hospital
Road in the southernmost part of the area. There were six bus stops on
each side of Hospital Road, with three to the west and three to the
east, situated near a shared car park for the public and medical staff.

However, significant modifications were implemented after three years.

In 2010, buses were given their dedicated stops, and all the bus stops
were relocated to the western side of Hospital Road. The car park for
hospital staff remained in its original location but was expanded,
encompassing the entire eastern side of Hospital Road exclusively for
the medical staff of City Hospital. The public, on the other hand, had to
travel a slightly longer distance as their parking lots were relocated to
the easternmost section of the hospital grounds.

Furthermore, the intersections of Hospital Road and City Road, as well

as Hospital Road and Ring Road, were transformed into roundabouts in
2010, contributing to smoother and safer traffic flow in the area.

The two pictures compare the layout of city hospital infrastructure as it

had been in 2007 with a plan to redesign the same space for the year
2010.

In general, it is noticeable that the design proposal involves making a

number of changes to the City Hospital infrastructure. To be specific,
the principal modifications were the building of a new car park and a
new bus stop, along with two new roundabouts.

Looking at the maps in more detail, in 2007, there was a car park
located along the east side of the Hospital Road for hospital staff and
visitors. However, within the next three years, the car park was divided
into two. The original car park was designated for staff members, while
a new one was constructed on the east side of Ring Road for the
general public. Furthermore, the six bus stops along either side of
Hospital Road were planned to be demolished, and instead, the new
bus station was built on the west side of Hospital Road and was
accessed via two new roundabouts.

As for the addition of the two new roundabouts, the cited motive was
to reduce traffic congestion around the City Hospital. While the first
roundabout was at the intersection of City Road and Hospital Road, the
second roundabout was at the junction of Ring Road and Hospital Road.
Finally, no significant changes were made to the City Hospital, Ring
Road, or City Road.
