Different types of

Computer Devices

Input Device
 a piece of equipment used to provide data and control
signals to an information processing system, such as a
computer or information appliance.

Examples of Input Devices

 Keyboard
 Computer Mice
 Scanners
 Cameras
 Joystick
 Microphones

1. Keyboard

Is an input device used to enter characters

and functions into the computer system by
pressing buttons, or keys. It is the primary
device used to enter text. A keyboard
typically contains keys for individual letters,
numbers and special characters.
2, Computer Mice
is a hand-held pointing device that detects
two-dimensional motion relative to a surface.
This motion is typically translated into the
motion of the pointer (called a cursor) on a
display, which allows a smooth control of the
graphical user interface of a computer.

3. Scanner
Is an electronic device that captures
documents, photographs, and other
printed materials and saves them as
digital files. The scanner is similar to a
copier in that the original item to be
scanned is placed on a flat bed of glass
under a cover and a moving beam of
light captures the image.

4. Cameras
is an instrument used to capture and
store images and videos, either
digitally via an electronic image
sensor, or chemically via a light-
sensitive material such as
photographic film.
4. Joystick

A joystick, sometimes
called a flight stick, is an
input device consisting of a
stick that pivots on a base and reports its angle or
direction to the device it is controlling.

6. Microphones
A microphone,
colloquially called a
mic, or mike, is a
transducer that
converts sound into
an electrical signal.
Output Device
 A piece of equipment/hardware which gives out the
result of the entered input, once its processed.

Examples of Output Devices

 Monitor
 Headphones
 Printer
 Projector
 Speaker

1. Monitor
is an electronic output device
used to display information being
entered and processed on a
computer. The primary use of a
monitor is to display images,
text, video, and graphics
information generated by the
computer via a computer's video
card.
