My name is Bamidele Oluwatobi David.

I am sixteen years old and I am a

citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. My primary aspirations are to become
a medical professional and to make a positive impact upon the lives of people
around me.
My desire to study medicine is one that has been a huge part of my life
for as long as I can remember. As a young boy, I often watched countless lives
lost due to the careless and ineffective structure of the Nigerian medical
system. The sight of sick and dying people adorning hospital rooms was one that
was often jarring for me growing up. This disgust at the sight of the ill and
aged dying due to the inaction and poor facilities of typical Nigerian hospitals
and the professionals therein eventually gave birth to my resolve to become a
medical professional and prevent the loss of lives that has become commonplace
throughout my beloved nation.
My pursuit of a career in medical sciences is also one that is driven by
my consious desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Specifically, I
wish to specialise in the fields of gynaecology and reproductive health because
I feel that my work in that field would go a long way in removing the undue
stigma from the shoulders of couples and families that have certain reproductive
disorders. I believe that my work as a reproductive health specialist would
provide a way for such couples to experience the joy of childbearing and enjoy
the feeling of pride in watching their kids grow and develop accordingly.
I also use this to make a request for financial aid in the pursuit of my
dream career in medicine. My reason for this is that such studies cost a huge
amount of money which is painfully beyond my own financial capacity. Coupled
with the high currency exchange rates, I feel that the cost of my studies would
be astronomically high and therefore too great for my aging parents to bear as
they also have other needs to meet, asides my own. It is with this realisation
that I have applied to study medicine on scholarship. I sincerely hope that my
application is honoured and I offer immense gratitude to you all for considering
me worthy to study at your prestigious institution. Thank you for this
opportunity.
