1. The ratio of cups of flour:cups of water in a pizza dough recipe is 9:4.

A
pizza restaurant makes a large quantity of dough, using 36 cups of flour. How
much water should they use?
2. The students in Ellie’s class walk, cycle or drive to school in the ratio 2:1:4.
If 8 students walk, how many students are there in Ellie’s class altogether?
3. Rosie and Jim share some sweets in the ratio 5:7. If Jim gets 12 sweets
more than Rosie, work out the number of sweets that Rosie gets.

4. Area …..
5. Find the area of the triangle:

6. What is the area of the triangle?

7. Work out the volume of the cube.

8. The diagram below shows a rectangular tank filled with some liquid.
Find the volume of the liquid in the tank.

9. In the diagram below, find the volume of the liquid in the rectangular tank.

10. Find the volume of the liquid in the rectangular tank. Express your answer in
litres.
1. The ratio of cups of flour:cups of water is 9:4. We have been given one part so
we can work this out using equivalent ratios.

2. Q QWN A BNUI7QUUZI8

3. Jim receives 2 shares more than Rosie, so 2 shares is equal to 12.

Therefore 1 share is equal to 6. Rosie receives 5 shares: 5 × 6 = 30.
4. Area of triangle = ½ x base x height
= ½ x 4cm x 3cm = 6 square cm (correct answer)
5. A=12(4)(12)=(2)(12)=24
6. Area of a triangle can be determined using the equation:
A=12bh
A=12(14)(5)=35
7. Volume Volume =a3=33=3×3×3=27 cm3
8. Length of cuboid =12 cm=12 cm
Breadth of cuboid =5 cm=5 cm
Height of liquid in cuboid =4 cm=4 cm
Volume of a liquid in cuboid
=length×breadth×height=12cm×5cm×4cm=240 cm3
9. Length of rectangular tank =14 m=14 m
Breadth of rectangular tank =5 m=5 m
Height of liquid in rectangular tank
=10 m – 6 m=4 m=10 m – 6 m=4 m

Volume of liquid in tank

=length×breadth×height=14m×5m×4m=280 m3
10. Length of rectangular tank =20 cm=20 cm
Breadth of rectangular tank =8 cm=8 cm
Height of liquid in rectangular tank
=17 cm – 5 cm=12 cm=17 cm – 5 cm=12 cm

Volume of liquid in the tank

=length×breadth×height=20cm×8cm×12cm=1920cm3=1.92litres
