Gun Control

We all have probably seen that crimes and violence has gone up in the past few

years. Restricted access to guns is not only beneficial for an individual but also to the society as a

whole by reducing the death toll as well as rash use of guns. Guns are a big reason of why many

people are dying now-a-days because people who own guns use them with no control. People use

guns as if it was a toy to them and as if humans had no value. A restricted access to guns will be

safer by preventing rash use.

Over the years, the accessibility of guns has changed drastically. Back then, guns used to be

limited to the rich people but over time, everything has changed. Their easy availability has

made it more dangerous for everyone. Guns are really harmful and now they have been

extremely easy to access. Even the younger kids are able to reach guns and cause harm.

According to "The impact of gun control and gun ownership levels on violence rates" by Gary

Kleck, it states that "The models covered all major categories of intentional violence and crime

which frequently involve guns: homicide, suicide, fatal gun accidents, robbery, and aggravated

assaults, as well as rape." Guns are extremely harmful to society. Suicide and homicide have

drastically gone up in the past years. This is really negatively affecting our society. Guns make it

easier for suicide to occur, especially when they are easy to reach. People suffering depression

and going through crisis at times tend to have suicidal thoughts and at such times if guns are

accessible, they may end up taking a very wrong decision. Sometimes anger can also inflict upon
mishaps that could've been avoided very easily. Stress can also be a reason for suicide because

when you have a lot in mind and start giving up, these thoughts can come into your head.

There are many steps and policies that can be changed to ensure a better and safer

place to live. changing laws and having a more controlled system for people to own guns can

benefit by comparing with some place where it has been already done. As a person who lives in

Tennessee, I see that gun policies are not so strict here and it easily accessible to have a gun which

results in a higher chance of suicidal thoughts. However, in India, to own a gun it requires a lot of

paper work and it is extremely serious so very few people own guns there. This means that in India;

suicide and homicide happening due to guns is not really common. Guns make it extremely easy for

deaths and crime to occur because people think it’s a toy. For example, at Santa Fe High School, one

of the students got a hold of his father's gun and killed about 10 people at the school; 8 students and

two teachers. This really drives people crazy how young kids are able to access guns and how

parents need to be more aware of where they keep their weapons. According to "School Shootings

Are Becoming the New Normal" by HALEY SWEETLAND EDWARDS, it states that "On the day of the

attack, he’d reportedly worn a T-shirt emblazoned with the words Born To Kill. One of the victim’s

mothers said her daughter had rebuffed his advances." This is what happened on the day of the

shooting at Santa Fe High school. This is extremely sad how parents and the elders just place their

guns anywhere and make it easily accessible.

Some changes will happen when the gun control is ensured, in what ways will things be

different and how it makes the country a better place to live in. country, city, town and village

there is some form of violence. In my lifetime, there have been countless deaths and injuries due

to gun violence. We happen to live in a country where gun violence is among the most prevalent

in the world: The United States of America. Today, gun control and gun violence has become a

controversial. Gun Control Gun Control is a topic that has been talked about for many years now
especially after many tragic deaths and other instances that have happened in past. Gun control

has become one of the most important battles of 2013. In a press conference last month,

President Obama pushed Congress to ban “assault” rifes and weapons

In America guns have been a part of the country’s society since it’s birth. Throughout

history the citizens of the US have used firearms to protect the nation, protect their families, to

hunt for food and to engage in sporting activities. The issue of Guns and gun control takes on a

proportion of extreme magnitude. major issue in American society would be gun control and the

violence it brings. We live in a time where technology allows news to spread rapidly and every

week gun violence crimes seem to be in the news. These crimes start to divide us as a society.

“Each year for the last decade in America, more than 30,000 people have. Gun Control: If not

now, when? The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm

unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that gun for traditionally lawful purposes, such

as self-defense within the home. When it comes to protecting freedom, Americans, including

those on the Supreme Court. You wont my guns? You can have my guns when you pry them

from my cold, dead hands. The debate over if guns are too dangerous to own have ben going on

for a long time and With both sides making very good points. Stricter gun control laws or

outlawing guns does not end violence.

Gun Control: Worse For Us Than We Know Almost everyone living in this country

should have witnessed such debates. Some people might not have listened to a formal debate, but

an informal gun control debate is being carried on by many groups and individuals. many people

as the Land of the Free; a Land of Opportunities. There has always been a gun culture in

America; however it has also been a gun-control culture. Whenever a devastating mass shooting

occurs, such as the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, a deliberation about gun violence
follows suit. Gun Violence in America According to CDC, "One person is killed by a firearms

every 17 minutes, 87 people are killed during an average day, and 609 are killed every

week”(CDC). That means gun violence is out of control, and you can be next. In fact, there 's

been an increase of mass murders occurring everywhere due to guns.
